Personnel: Bun B; Jazze Pha, Juvenile, Lil Jon, Mannie Fresh, Mddl Fngz, Mike Jones , Paul Wall , Pimp C, Scarface, Slim Thug, T.I., Too $hort, Young Jeezy, Z-Ro, Lil' Flip, Devin the Dude, Petty Pueblo. With his partner Pimp C struggling with legal problems and eventually incarceration, fellow UGK member Bun B was forced to go it alone. His Mddl Fngz project was satisfying and his guest appearances are always welcome, but with Trill he establishes himself as an exciting solo artist benefiting from both experience and the hunger of someone just joining the game. There's a ridiculously star-studded guest list to come, but before thrilling the listener with Jay-Z, Ludacris, Ying Yang Twins, Mannie Fresh, and even Too Short, Bun B takes the first highlight for his own, delivering "Bun" like an up-and-comer on his first big mixtape. Beating Mike Jones and Paul Wall at their own game, B follows up his new anthem with two hooky hanging-out tracks, the celebrity-packed "Get Throwed" with Z-Ro and Jay-Z and the magnificent "Draped Up" featuring Lil' Keke and referencing DJ Screw for Southern hood authenticity. As the album progresses with one inspired guest appearance after another and 31 flavors of hip-hop for the tasting, Trill becomes the more street-level alternative to its guest star Lil Jon's grand Crunk Juice. The big difference is Trill is born out of necessity, a need to keep the UGK spirit alive and Bun B in the spotlight by proving he still has it. On all counts, it succeeds. ~ David Jeffries With his debut solo release, TRILL, Bun-B proves that he doesn't need his UGK partner Pimp C to deliver the goods. On this sprawling set of gangsta-crunk tracks, the Texas-based rapper delivers more unflinching, sinister tales from the ghetto over dizzying, southern-fried beats. The impressive array of contributors--including Ludacris, Too Short, Ying Yang Twins, Scarface, and Mike Jones--adds even more star power to an already top-notch production.Spin (p.107) - "The UGK elder statesmen steps in for his incarcerated partner Pimp C and skillfully adapts to Houston's current pop moment..." -- Grade: B+ Trill Music | List Price | $18.97 (You save $3.32) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, R&B CDs, Rap, Urban Soundtrack, Gangsta | | Label | Rap-A-Lot | | Orig Year | 2005 | | All Time Sales Rank | 4702 | | CD Universe Part number | 6866060 | | Catalog number | 68539 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Oct 18, 2005 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | J-Prince; Pimp C | | Personnel | Bun B Too $Hort Scarface Lil' Jon Lil' Flip Juvenile Slim Thug Paul Wall Devin The Dude Mddl Fngz Petty Pueblo

| | Z-Ro Let The Truth Be Told CD (2005)
Trill
$15.05 Personnel: Z-Ro; Juvenile, Paul Wall , Ashanti, Trae, Lil' Flip, Devin the Dude, Lil' Boss. True thug Z-Ro has an incredibly stuffed discography but his profile is surprisingly low. His style is hard -- think Nate Dogg with a Southern flavor -- but not underground or cerebral enough to keep him from blowing up big time, so what's the problem? If there's any justice, the solid Let the Truth Be Told will put the man over the top. Guest spots from Ashanti, Paul Wall, and Juvenile should help too, but if this all seems like a forced play for the mainstream, it's not. Seventeen songs and the album never sounds anything less than inspired, necessary even. Z-Ro's verbal sparring with Devin the Dude makes "The Mule" a standout, "Platinum" and "Everyday, Samethang" are sure to figure into your next mixtape, but the highlights keep coming and filler isn't even an issue. Producers Mike Dean and Mr. Lee ...
| | R Kelly TP.3: Reloaded CD (2005) Bonus DVD; Limited Edition
Trill
$8.99 Personnel: R. Kelly (vocals, rap vocals); Do or Die, Elephant Man, Nivea, Snoop Dogg, The Game, Twista, Wisin, Yandel, Baby (rap vocals). TP.3 Reloaded is thematically opposite to Happy People/U Saved Me. The first hour of the album is mostly about getting rowdy and getting it on, full of some of the clumsiest and lewdest lyrics R. Kelly has written. Funniest of all is the relatively tame "Kickin' It With Your Girlfriend," where Kelly apologizes to his woman for cheating on her, says he didn't mean to cause pain, proceeds to tell her about all about the affair, and in a roundabout way suggests that it's her fault for allowing him to cross paths with her girlfriend. With one or two exceptions, all of these songs are second and third rate by his standard. And then there's the other part of TP.3. In an apparent move to deflect long-running criticisms that his songs have no depth, he has crafted a ten-chapter saga titled "Trapped in ...
| | Chamillionaire Sound Of Revenge CD (2005) Parental Advisory
Trill
$13.15 Personnel: Chamillionaire (rap vocals); Killer Mike, Krayzie Bone, Lil Wayne, Pastor Troy, Rasaq, Scarface, Lil' Flip, Natalie , Bun B (rap vocals). With THE SOUND OF REVENGE, Chamillionaire's 2005 Universal debut, the Houston-based rapper makes the most of his major-label deal, which includes his own Chamillitary imprint. On SOR, Paul Wall's former collaborator amps up that duo's signature chopped-and-screwed mixtape sound with heavy-duty arrangements that expertly showcase Chamillionaire's deep, husky voice. The introductory title track is marked by machine-gun beats, and establishes the album's fierce, restless mood. But the disc's highlight is the utterly infectious single "Turn It Up," which boasts Scott Storch's distinctive chiming production ...

In other words, it's the kind of album the hardcore lovers of Adrenaline Rush are going ...

$12.69 Sandy's debut CD of original music is an eclectic mix of rock, blues, and folk, tinged with jazz and worldbeat, and inspired by female artists who know how to belt out a tune or let words flow like melting butter. She writes the truth as she sees it, creating a cutting honesty in her lyrics, and sets them to interesting melodies and rhythms, which not only stick in your head because they’re catchy but also have a message.“If you’re going to have a song fragment running a loop in your head, it might as well say something helpful. These lyrics contain ideas and phrases that worked for me ...
