Dave Weckl: Dave Weckl; Tom Kennedy, Ric Fierabracci (bass instrument); Gary Meek, Paul Pesco, Steve Weingart, Richie Gajate Garcia. Personnel: Dave Weckl (drums, timbales, percussion, programming); Paul Pesco (guitar); Gary Meek (alto flute, bass clarinet, soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone); Steve Weingart (keyboards); Richie Gajate Garcia (congas, percussion). Audio Mixer: Dave Weckl. Recording information: Garage, Woodland Hills, CA (01/2005). Editor: Dave Weckl. Although still best known for his association with Chick Corea, drummer Dave Weckl has led an underrated group of his own for quite a few years. His core band, a quartet with keyboardist Steve Weingart, electric bassist Tom Kennedy, and saxophonist Gary Meek, is a little reminiscent of the Yellowjackets in its use of catchy melodies and appealing grooves and its ability to perform post-bop jazz with the sensibility of rock. Weckl does not dominate the music and gives Meek and Weingart plenty of solo space. His band deserves to be heard, and Multiplicity is an excellent example of the quartet at its best. ~ Scott Yanow Dave Weckl Multiplicity Songs Multiplicity Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Great! This is a great recording, and rhythmically very interesting to listen to. There's clearly a Weather Report vibe in a few songs, and a Yellowjackets vibe in some others. Dave Weckl and Tom Kennedy work amazingly well together -- I've not heard drums and bass this tight since Rush, with Tom Kennedy's grooves considerably more sophistocated than Geddy Lee's. A few of the keyboards remind me of Level 42, though again, these guys are more complex than your typical crossover fusion band. On the previous album I heard elements of Pat Metheny too. You really can't go wrong.

The legend impresses again Dave weckl is known as one of the greats in drumming history and comes up trumps again with 'Multiplicity'.
Weckl creates a unique blend of culture and creativity within his music and, together with other superb muscicians, has produced one of the Dave Weckl bands' greatest albums. Listen to the demos and see for yourself. Submitted by terry.sinclair3 (Brighton, East Sussex, England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

From the opening of "Long Shot," with its rolling hip-hop-derived beat and its nonchalant profanity, it's clear that Aimee Mann is trying to appeal to a wider audience with her second solo album, I'm With Stupid. Taking her cues from Liz Phair and Beck, she adds alternative rock flourishes to her music but never abandons her love of the basic, three-minute pop single. Mann builds ...

$11.55 Also W/Double Trouble+ Charlie Musselwhite
Personnel: Jimmy Thackery, Tab Benoit (vocals, guitar); Charlie Musselwhite (harmonica); Reese Wynans (piano, Hammond B-3 organ); Tommy Shannon (bass); Chris Layton (drums). Recorded at The Studio, Portland, Maine in February 2002. Includes liner notes by Art Tipaldi. The first summit meeting for these two journeymen roots-blues-rock guitarists is a rousing triumph. On paper, Tab Benoit's less aggressive New Orleans style wouldn't seem to mesh with Jimmy Thackery's boozy, tough, rough and tumble approach. But like Lennon and McCartney, each complements the other. Benoit lets his Delta and Texas-styled roots seep into the proceedings, tempering Thackery's more bombastic leads. Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble ...
