Ted Bundy was young, handsome and charming with a bright future ahead of him. He was also the most notorious serial sex killer in America. This is the story of his legend of terror. Director's Commentary; Trailer The accounts vary and the actual number will never be known, but the deaths of at least 36 women can be attributed to Theodore Robert Bundy. This biographical horror film begins in Seattle in 1974 where the duplicitous nature of Bundy (Michael Reilly Burke) becomes unmistakably evident. He is working as a polite crisis hotline volunteer, but his callers don't know that he is secretly a sexual deviant in a bow tie whose sexual desires become increasingly perverse until they culminate in his killing spree. Meanwhile, an unsuspecting girlfriend (named "Lee" in the film, this woman--played by Boti Ann Bliss--wrote a book about her life with Bundy under the alias Elizabeth Kendall) dotes on her lover, whose crimes would go unsolved for years. The film follows Bundy's murderous trail through two prison escapes and his eventual execution in Florida.
This detailed account of Bundy's exploits contains chilling murder sequences and a dark sense of humor. The film ends with a memorably bleak execution scene which includes archival footage of the mob outside the prison. The subject matter is not new for distributor First Look, which also released DAHMER and ED GEIN. The latter benefited from the creative team of screenwriter Stephen Johnston and producers Hamish McAlpine and Michael Muscal, who reteamed on this project. Ted Bundy Reviews: "...There can be no faulting Michael Reilly Burke's chill 'n' charm portrayal of Bundy..."-- Jamie Russell, Total Film

Ted Bundy Movie Review Average Rating: (3.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews BRUTAL!!! This is the best serial killer movie out there! This movie is graphic. It shows the death, rape, and torture. The acting is excellent. Highly recommened to fans of serial killers Submitted by xblackmetallerx (Rockford, IL USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Should have been better Off to a good start, this simply failed to deliver beyond gratuitously satisfying itself; character development was clumsy and laboured, even unintentionally comic, it was vaguely reminiscent of the schlock horrors of the late '60's early '70's but without their cult inducing banality. The book was so much better and more detailed. This movie was a slaughter to say the least. The book was more grapgic and detailed. The book made me cry and my skin crawl more times than I can count. The movie was vague and left the viewer with more questions and lots of confusion. I was disappointed in many ways with this movie. For all READ the book- it is very good and spine chilling. Not enough It must be hard to take one of the most amazing serial killer stories of all time and compact it into a 90 minute movie. And unfortunately, that does not work in the favor of this film. The end result leaves the viewer wanting more details. Some important facts were touched just briefly while others were skipped over altogether. Another unfortuante aspect to this film was that some of the events depicted toward the end are actually fabricated despite what the director says.
Michael Rielly Burke doesn't do a bad job at playing Bundy. Burke does put forth a quirkiness that was indeed part of Bundy's personality. An even better portrayal of Bundy was played by Cary Elwes in "The Riverman". Elwes seemed to capture the essence a bit better.
Overall, if you really want to get into the Bundy story, I would advise you to read one of the many books about him. His story is so large that a 90 minute movie just doesn't cut it and skips over far too many important things. Submitted by Eddie G. (Cranston, RI) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
BOOK BETTER Ted bundy did know the author of the book a stranger beside me if you read it she explains they were work colleugues but kept in touch writing and meeting many more times over the years. The film is good but does not cover as much information as the book it is much better and told froma point of view of someone that knew the person. also gives insight into victims lives so they are not just names. Garner lends his unique, down-home persona to the character while the film's writers endow the character with some memorable lines. Murphy's romance begins when Emma (Field) ...
