It's no secret that the time gap between albums by guitarist Eric Johnson is on par with such notorious 'hibernators' as Boston. And the arrival of his fourth all-new studio release, Bloom, was no different, as it appeared nearly nine years after the release of 1996's Venus Isle. Whereas most guitar heroes of the late '80s and early '90s were all about reeling off a zillion notes per second, Johnson was the exception, as he penned songs that saw his guitar supplying the melody where a voice could have been. Good, but....
not as good as Venus Isle, which is still his best work IMHO. But still a good effort from Eric.

20 years since "Tones" and still jammin'!
Eric Johnson is one of the true musical geniuses of the modern age. In the same ranks with his fellow guitar great contemporaries such as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Steve Via, Joe Satriani and a few others.

Stop singing
The instrumental numbers are great and that’s making him supernatural on the guitar. This guy can even runs rings around JS.

One to forget.
There are glimmers of promise on this album but they are few and far between. Unfortunately as a long term fan of Eric's this one I could safely say save your money.
