2 LPs on 1 CD: LIVE IN NEW YORK (1980) / MORE STUFF (1977). 2 LPs on 1 CD: LIVE IN NEW YORK (1980)/MORE STUFF (1977). Stuff: Cornell Dupree, Eric Gale (guitar); Richard Tee (keyboards); Gordon Edwards (bass guitar); Chris Parker , Steve Gadd (drums). In this anomaly as far as reissue two-fers go, Collectables took Stuff's second record and combined it with one of their three live albums recorded in the '70s, Live in New York. On the follow-up to their eponymous debut record, Stuff really didn't take many chances in the evolution of their sound, preferring to stay the course with their light, well-executed sound based around pop-soul and jazz. More Stuff found future disco superproducer Van McCoy behind the production boards, and the group builds on that blueprint: the crown jewel of the eight-song session is their treatment of Stevie Wonder's "As," which stays faithful to the original. But the real gem of the disc is the Live in New York half, which shows the group in a more relaxed fashion, free of production ornaments like a horn section and with more of an emphasis on grooves than arrangements. This was also Stuff's swan song, which is fitting; like many similar groups, Stuff's live performances improved upon their efforts in the studio. ~ Rob Theakston Live In New York/More Stuff Music Live In New York/More Stuff Songs Live In New York/More Stuff Music Review Purchase Live In New York/More Stuff CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Right Stuff CD (1996)

Live In New York/More Stuff
$19.99 Raven presents two classic soul/funk albums by Ike & Tina Turner, "Nutbush City Limits" and "Feel Good" on one CD for the first time. Dominated by Tina Turner's powerful voice and volcanic stage presence and Ike's hard-driving guitar, the duo's incendiary, funked-up blend of rock and soul made them one of the most potent live acts of the early 1970s. These two storming albums saw the duo transplant the visceral frenzy of their stage act successfully into the studio. Complete with five bonus tracks, including the Extended Disco Version of their iconic signature tune "Nutbush City Limits" and Tina Turner's super-funky rendition of The Who's "I Can See For Miles", this 25-track, 77 minute CD represents great value for all fans of rock, soul and funk. Raw, passionate, sexual and celebratory: this is Ike and Tina Turner at the peak of their powers.

Many of the legends of acoustic guitar in the 20th century have already passed on -- John Fahey, Robbie Basho, Ali Farka Toure. Due partially to his spare recording career, Peter Walker's own reputation has not always been as well known as those of said giants, but his own influence has been considerable. A Raga for Peter Walker -- a tribute album that, in a nice touch, not only consists of work composed by its ...
