| | Audioslave Out Of Exile CD Audioslave Discography of CDs
OUT OF EXILE presents a band that has grown comfortably into its own skin. Three years after Audioslave's highly successful debut, the supergroup crafted a truly formidable rock album with a fresh, live-in-the-studio rawness. Former Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello rolls back the distortion subtly, playing with a notably more melodic touch, best evidenced on "Heaven's Dead" and "Dandelion." Soundgarden's Chris Cornell's weathered voice at times walks a perilous ledge, yet never to a fault--that very danger and heartfelt soulfulness are part and parcel of his revered approach. The heady and poetic "#1 Zero" and "Be Yourself" strongly uphold Cornell's consummate lyrical prowess.
OUT OF EXILE could hardly be an Audioslave record without a crop of head-thrashing, foot-stomping riffs, as revealed in "Your Time Has Come," "The Worm," and the powerful title track. Bassist Tim Commerford remains supportive and inventive in his playing, while Brad Wilk notches up his drumming considerably, taking chances and stretching beyond his dependable grooves on the band's first release. With the crack production and mixing of Rick Rubin and Brendan O'Brien, respectively, OUT OF EXILE raises the bar for the quartet on all levels.
Japanese pressing includes 2 bonus tracks 'Superstupid' & 'Like A Stone'. The follow-up to Audioslave's self-titled 2002 debut features the single "Be Yourself. Recorded with producer Rick Rubin, who also helmed their debut CD. Among the other songs slated for inclusion are: "Doesn't Remind Me", "Out of Exile", "The Curse", "#1 Zero" and "Your Time Has Come". Universal International. 2005.
CD contains 2 bonus tracks.Spin (pp.97-98) - "Drummer Brad Wilk drives, bassist Tim Commerford is solely in charge of grooves, and guitarist Tom Morello works hard at being amazing." - Grade: A- Mojo (Publisher) (p.95) - 3 stars out of 5 - "[T]he quartet display a welcome lightness of touch. 'Be Yourself' is a soar-away piece of drivetime empathy..." Out Of Exile Review

Out Of Exile songs
$18.09 Before there was Yes' "Owner of a Lonely Heart," there was just Trevor Rabin. He had gotten his professional start in the South African band Rabbit and Face to Face was his second solo release after that band. The album, released in 1980, is very nearly a true solo release, with Rabin only joined by drummers and a backing vocalist. The music presented here shows an artist who has not yet reached his maturity in terms of songwriting. That said, there are some inspired moments that show flashes of what was to be. The overall mode, though, is that of a fairly hard-edged, straight-ahead rock & roll style. One exception to this is "I'm Old Enough (To Make You a Woman)," which finds its roots more in an arena rock ballad type of format. Other points of interest include "You," a somewhat Beatles-influenced ballad. However, while that cut presents a different sound than the bulk of the album, it is rather generic and a bit heavy-handed at times. The track that follows it, though, is a true standout. This song, entitled, "Now," has an outstanding vocal arrangement and strong dramatic texture that really sets it apart. By the last two tracks on the disc, Rabin seems to have hit his stride. The first of those is "Candy's Bar," a Head East-oriented tune that has an exceptional arrangement. The album closer is "Always the Last One." It is a Queen-ish screamer that features one of the best arrangements on the album. Even those tracks cannot really save the disc from mediocrity, though. It is a CD that will really be of interest only to the hardcore fans of Rabin and Yes completists. The rest of the public will find that the album, ...

Out Of Exile album
$19.95 Combining the complex instrumentation and composition of 70s progressive rock with a more catchy pop sensibility, Asia were catapulted to the top of the charts with their self-titled debut album. The band was comprised of members of prog-rock heavyweights, including John Wetton (vocals) of King Crimson, Carl Palmer (drums) of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Geoff Downes (keyboards) from the Buggles, and Yes guitarist Steve Howe. The songwriting acumen of Wetton and Downes, accompanied by the powerful drumming of Palmer and Howe's legendary guitar playing, was a recipe for an exciting and enthralling live show, and the band appears here at the peak of their ...

| | Bugs Henderson Stormy Love CD (2004)
Out Of Exile music CDs
$20.19 It seems like every guitar player who ever made a record is described by someone as "legendary" or a legend. Here's an authentic blues/rock legend with a history that dates from the 60's to the present day. Bugs Henderson is the "real deal". Check any anthology of the Texas rock and blues music scene and you will likely find his name in the very first paragraph. One of his guitars hangs in the Dallas, Texas Hard Rock Café along with instruments donated by Chet Atkins and Lee Ritenouer and he's recorded with or shared stages with some of the greatest guitar slingers of all time including Freddie King, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Winter and Roy Buchannan to name a few.It was blues great Freddie King who encouraged Bugs to step out on his own after playing with a myriad of bands throughout Texas and the neighboring states. In the 60's he played with his buddy Ronnie Weiss in their group Mouse and the Traps, picking up national chart action with their "Public Execution" single. In the 70's he performed and recorded with Nitzinger, and in the past two decades he's seen more than two dozen albums released under his own name on labels around the world. He's been called "A national treasure" by the press and has been described by many critics as not only one of the best guitarists in the blues/rock field, but possibly the fastest player out there today.Bugs has been through the regular musicians battles with drugs and alcohol and has managed to survive and whip them all, and today in his mid-sixties continues to tour internationally and to "rock on" in concert and in the studio. The new album, Stormy Love, finds Bugs still at the forefront of electric blues/rock, but there is a mellowing here too with a disc full of original material that includes a country duet with the great Billy Joe Shaver and a couple of beautiful ballads. Augmenting the trio sound that has been the basis for many of his later recordings, this disc adds a couple of friends on Hammond B-3 Organ, keyboards, slide and rhythm guitars and even backup singers on a few tracks. Of course, as has been his habit on his recent albums, Bugs has added a final track of liner notes in his ...
| | Karl Blau Dance Positive CD (2007)
Out Of Exile songs
$12.15 Even by Karl Blau's normal standards, Dance Positive is a weirdly insular little record. Although increasingly better known to a more mainstream audience as a key member of Laura Veirs' backing band, the Saltbreakers, Blau first gained notice as one third of D+, the trio that singer and guitarist Bret Lunsford formed with Blau and drummer Phil Elvrum (the Microphones) after Beat Happening broke up. Dance Positive consists of Lunsford-penned songs from the first four D+ records, completely reworked in the amiably offbeat style of Blau's previous three solo albums. Defiantly lo-fi almost to the point of being a rumbling mess, featuring almost dub-like overuse of echo and reverb, loose and quasi-jazzy horn sections, and Blau's inventive bass playing and loopy, rambling, vaguely stoned-sounding falsetto vocals at the center of the otherwise difficult to navigate sound mix, Dance Positive transforms Lunsford's songs entirely, into tracks that would have fit perfectly onto any of Blau's earlier, self-penned records. Blau even reworks the vocal melodies and in some cases does ...
