The compositions on this CD were written for the unreleased film "Wonderwall" Wonderwall Music Soundtrack CD music The first Beatle solo album -- as well as the first Apple album -- was a minor eruption of the pent-up energies of George Harrison, who was busy composing this offbeat score to the film Wonderwall as Magical Mystery Tour raced up the charts. | George At His Best Apparently having been given a lot of freedom in composing this soundtrack, this album shows off all of Mr. Harrisons skills as a songwriter and musician. With everything ranging from Indian to Country Western stylings, this is a must have for any George Harrison fan. By mrdavememphis (Memphis, TN, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| incredible one of the best albums of music ever created. Do yourself a favor, and do NOT see the film. By Tommy Goh (the Guarsh) This review is for a different format. |
| west meets east Beautiful, quirky, utimately moving, this strange and creative offering from George is a hodge podge of musical hors d'oeuvres ranges from abbriviated yet lush rhythmic Indian tone poems, to Western/Honky Tonk, to grinding Rock grooves. It has a variety and uniqueness that laughs in the face of Kiplings dictum, ... and never the twain shall meet. Here it does, magically. | Very Cool This is a rare classic... an intrinsic slice of sixties psychedelica merging with Indian music via the Man who did as much as he could to turn people on to the genre. You can hear the beginnings of that great Beatles b-side "The Inner Light" on here. Historically placed around the time of the White Album and part of that immense creative current that flowed from the Beatles visit to India, it's a document worth having.
