HEAVY HITTERS is Michael Schenker's "covers" albums. Michael Schenker: Michael Schenker. Audio Mixers: Bob Kulick; Brett Chassen. Recording information: Office Studios, Van Nuys, CA. Illustrator: Ben Nunez. Arranger: Bob Kulick. There have been countless cover albums over the years, where established rock artists redo favorites from their formative years (David Bowie's PIN UPS, Rush's FEEDBACK, etc.), and the 2005 Michael Schenker release HEAVY HITTERS treads upon similar terrain. Put together by renowned studio musician Bob Kulick (best known to Kiss fans as the brother of Bruce Kulick, and as a guest guitarist on numerous Kiss albums), HEAVY HITTERS puts Schenker together with quite a few notable names from both the heavy metal and classic rock genres. Featured are covers of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" (featuring Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals), Pink Floyd's "Money" (with Tommy Shaw), Mountain's "Blood of the Sun" (with Leslie West), and Nazareth's "Hair of the Dog" (with Paul Di'Anno). Also featured are a pair of tracks that are "Schenker related"--a cover of UFO's classic "Doctor Doctor," while former MSG singer Gary Barden reunites with Schenker on a cover of Gary Moore and Phil Lynott's "Out in the Fields." While longtime fans would undoubtedly rather have had a new studio album by the Michael Schenker Group, HEAVY HITTERS is your typical fun cover set, which at times serves as a glimpse into Schenker's musical roots. Michael Schenker Heavy Hitters Songs Heavy Hitters Music Review Average Rating: (3.6 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Wow... what a surprise!!! An album of all covers. Find someone to write songs with, do something original. Submitted by El Robbo (Bayonne, NJ) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Not One Of Schenker's Best! Since I own both of The Schenker-Pattison Summit "Endless Jam" cd's I thought this would be as good as those. Wrong! Not that Schenker doesn't shine on most of the tracks, indeed he does, but the vocals for the most part of horrible. Good examples are Jeff Scott Soto singing U.F.O.'s classic "Doctor Doctor" (just bad vocals, mostly screaming), Tim "Ripper" Owens singing Black Sabbath's classic "War Pigs" (really bad vocals), Paul Di'Anno singing Nazareth's classic "Hair Of The Dog" (you call that singing?), Tommy Shaw singing Pink Floyd's classic "Money" (he's a good singer overall but not here, he's off key at times). The best singers on this disc are Joe Lynn Turner, Leslie West, Jeff Pilson, Mark Slaughter and Gary Barden. If all you care about is hearing Schenker shredding on his guitar, then buy this disc, but it isn't his best! Submitted by B.C. ("Hallandale Beach,Fl.,USA") Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Funkadelic Let's Take It To The Stage CD (1975) Bonus Track; Remastered
Heavy Hitters
$12.29 Bootsy Collins comes to the line-up and Funkadelic starts to get more funky - and the classic P-Funk sound comes to the forefront on this live album. This CD contains the original 10 track album from 1975 (remastered) plus 1 bonus track from 1972: "Baby
Funkadelic: Gary Shider (vocals, guitar); Bernie Worrell (vocals, keyboards); William "Bootsy" Collins, Cordell Mosson (vocals, bass); Calvin Simon (vocals, congas); George Clinton, Fuzzy Haskins, Grady Thomas (vocals); Michael Hampton, Eddie Hazel (guitar); Bill Nelson (bass); Tiki Fulwood (percussion); Ron Bykowski. Additional personnel includes: Paul Warren, Reggie McBride, Frosty, Mello Garcia, Honeys, Denise Hurd, Gary "Mudbone" Cooper, Telma Hopkins, Joyce Vincent. Recorded at Hollywood Studios, Hollywood, California & United Sound, Detroit, Michigan. One of Funkadelic's goofiest releases, Let's Take It to the Stage also contains more P-Funk all-time greats as well, making for a grand balance of the serious and silly. Perhaps the silliest is at the end -- there's not much else one can call the extended oompah/icing rink start of "Atmosphere." The title track is as much a call to arms as "Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow" is, but with a more direct musical performance and a more open nod to party atmospheres (not to mention the source of one of Andrew Dice Clay's longest-running bits). The targets of the band's good-natured wrath are, in fact, other groups -- "Hey, Fool and the Gang! Let's take it to the stage!" There's no mistaking the track that immediately follows makes it even more intense -- "Get off Your Ass and Jam" kicks in with one bad-ass drum roll and then scorches the damn place down, from guitar solo to the insanely funky bass from Bootsy Collins. It may only be two and a half minutes long, but it alone makes the album a classic. Hearing Collins' unmistakable tones is usually enough to get anything on the crazy tip, but "Be My Beach" just makes it all the more fun, as does the overall air of silly romance getting nuttier as it goes. "Good to Your Earhole" sets the outrageous mood just right -- it's one of the band's tightest monsters of funk, guitars sprawling all over the place even as the heavy-hitting rhythm doesn't let one second of groove get lost. Of course, there's also one totally notorious ...

Heavy Hitters
$13.95 For our newst album, Can't Make Out the Stars, check out our other CD Baby site! http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/thissideofeve3This Side of Eve is a band that is rooted in the powerful vocals and creativity of Alyssa Creasy. TSE consists of four songwriters, Alyssa and John Creasy, Bill Adams, and Ian White. Each bringing his/her own musical flavor and life experience for the band's musical interpretation. With the current line up and addition of Chris Hilf on bass guitar, John and Alyssa seem to have the perfect mix of musical talent and cohesive creativity. (Of course Chris wants to soon be a part of the second sentance of this bio as one of our song writers!)Every song is powerful in its lyrics and musical presentation. Songs range from edgy guitar driven tracks like Refinery and ReCreate to more thoughtful works like Breaking or Rockmere Road. The style or genre of TSE is very difficult to put a finger on with influences of bands ranging ...
