Gavin and Kom are two carefree monkeys of the Woonko community, who live at the very tops of the trees. Far below, at the base of the trees, live another community of monkeys, the Laankos, who are deeply feared by Gavin and Kom. But when Kom falls down one day, and is rescued and taken in by the Laanko monkeys, he begins to see things differently. A MONKEY'S TALE is a spirited animation about defying myths.

Monkey's Tale video
$14.45 With the talents of Chuck Jones, Boris Karloff, and Dr. Seuss combined, there was almost no way this could be anything but an instant classic. Watched regularly every holiday season and beloved by children and cynical adults alike, this animated gem is just that and more. Boris Karloff narrates and stars as the odious Mr. Grinch, the sinister green monster who plots to steal all the Christmas presents in the town of Whoville. All goes well with his dastardly plan until little Cindy Loo Who (who was no more than two) gums up the works with her innocent Christmas spirit. Jones directed, with Karloff supplying the sweetly sinister narration and voice of the Grinch. The story is from ...

Monkey's Tale film
Oliver Axer presents a collection of German popular songs from the Nazi era, and makes blackly ironic commentary on the lyrics and jovial mood with a stream-of-consciousness montage of German film clips, cartoons, home movies, and newsreel footage from the 1930s and early '40s . The regime's obsession with good health and fitness is explored, as is a fascination with new technology, and vilification of the Jews. Hitler is represented as a comical guy who loves dogs and children. Zeppelins fill the sky, the trains are on time, the soldiers marching off to war will be home soon to their sweethearts; the Jews are safely identified by stars on their shirts; the whole society is marching loyally in step to its certain, horrific destruction. What emerges from the colorful wreckage is a portrait of how the same tools of popular culture currently used in the US or other free ...

| | Frost/Nixon - Original Watergate Interviews DVD (1977) Full Frame
Monkey's Tale DVD
$16.25 The pungent interview between British TV host David Frost and former President Richard Nixon in 1977 was a groundbreaking moment in American politics. Assembled from over 28 hours of footage, this candid conversation--which some have compared to a boxing match--ended with the weary, impeached leader accepting guilt for the Watergate scandal. The famed tête-à-tête became the basis for the play FROST/NIXON, in turn adapted into a movie directed by Ron Howard.
This program, culled from the over 28 hours of interview footage between Sir David Frost and U.S. President Richard M. Nixon, was originally broadcast in May of 1977. Never before, nor since, has a U.S. President been so candid ...
| | Coraline DVD (2009) Widescreen
Monkey's Tale movie DVD
$23.39 After creating a classic with THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, director Henry Selick crafts the first stop-motion animated feature to be filmed in three dimensions. Dakota Fanning voices a girl who finds a parallel universe lurking behind a door in her home, but the new world isn't all it initially appears. Based on Nail Gaiman's novel, CORALINE promises to be a favorite for both children and adults.
As covetous children are often warned: "Be careful what you wish for." It’s this very cautionary wisdom that sets the stage for Henry Selick’s CORALINE, an eerily eye-popping stop-motion animation tale of fractured dreams and families made whole. As the films opens, Coraline Jones (voiced by Dakota Fanning) and her parents (Teri Hatcher, John Hodgman) have moved into the Pink Palace, a once-vibrant boarding house that’s turned drab and dilapidated. As her parents work feverishly on a new gardening catalog, the bored and belligerent Coraline is admonished to explore her new world’s possibilities. Along the way she meets her fellow tenants, including two aging English showgirls and a mouse-training Russian acrobat, as well as an outcast neighborhood boy named Wybie. But it is a mysterious hidden door that most piques Coraline’s interest--a gateway to a parallel world where her "other" parents and neighbors live only to see Coraline well fed and endlessly entertained. All is not cakes and carnivals for Coraline, though, and the black buttons that have replaced the eyes of these otherworldly imitations hint at darker intentions. When these intentions are revealed, Cora and a friendly magical cat use their wits ...

| | Bolt DVD (2008) Widescreen
Monkey's Tale film
$23.39 In this 2008 computer-animated Disney film, an adorable dog named Bolt (voiced by John Travolta) has been trained to believe that he has superpowers, and that his young owner, Penny (Miley Cyrus), is in perpetual peril, thanks to the schemes of the dastardly Dr. Calico (Malcolm McDowell). However, the loving and protective Bolt and his human companion are really actors in a popular TV show, a production that goes to great lengths to make sure its star pooch remains in the dark about his fictitious life. When Bolt is accidentally transported off his show's Hollywood lot, he must find his way back home and contend with his not-so-super reality, aided by a scrappy alley cat (Susie Essman) and a very enthusiastic hamster (Mark Walton).
Helmed by animation vets and first-time feature directors Byron Howard and Chris Williams, BOLT benefits from executive producer John Lasseter's ...
