Good News & Bad News Good news first. The Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 is very nicely done. The pianism is beyond reproach, and conveys the sentiment of the piece exquisitely. The Orchestra Suisse Romande under Louis Martin is solid. Bad news second. The Ravel Piano Concerto is rather weirdly recorded, and surges to crescendos rather than making a more gradual transition. Thus, suddenly almost too soft a sound, then suddenly almost too loud a sound. Additionally, I don't think that Argerich is the pianist for this piece; it requires more sentiment and feeling than she conveys. Thus, only a total of 3 stars for this CD. Comes in a digipak.
