5 stars DO NOT WAIT!!!!
If this is not, far and away the best contemporary jazz album ever recorded, it is definitely Ronnie Laws' best. Aside from Miles' KIND OF BLUE, George Benson's LIVE IN L.A., Hiroshima's ODORI and The Crusaders' SCRATCH, I can't think of another jazz album that I could play about 100 times in succession and never tire of it. It's been a long wait to see this make the transition to CD, but I am soooooo HAPPY that it's here at last! Don't think about picking up this album, "Tomorrow." Because after all, "Tomorrow is a dream/The future reality..."

4 stars Ex-Earth, Wind & Fire saxaphonist very underrated!!!
Yes, Ronnie Laws got his start playing the sax for EWF. The sonic clarity with which "Every Generation" sounds is reminiscent of EWF crytal clear horn section. This album is clearly one of keyboard player, song writer, and EWF original member Larry Dunn's better arrangements. I am suprised that several of these songs receive no air play on the national jazz radio circuit. Ronnie Laws is one of this generations most underrated saxaphonist. I hope that he and L. Dunn collaborate on another album soon. The song Every Generation was way ahead of its time. I have waited for 5 yrs to get this in cd format. Thank you CD Universe!

4 stars Perspective
Anyone evaluating not only this record, but any from his period of Afro-American music, must consider the year- 1980: Disco was at its peak, Motown was in its decline, rap had just gotten started, hip-hop wasn't even a word yet, and Ronny Laws was at the top of his game. 'Every Generation' is very polished, maybe too polished, but that's how soul music was made before the hip-hop collapses of the mid-80's. Some of Laws' best work is here, especially, 'Young Child', 'Every Generation', and 'Love's Victory'. Of course, jazz purists hate everything about this record: Laws sings too much, too much electronics, saxophone effects, multiple electrified keyboards, and some disco rhythms. Forget them! All of that stuff was the essence of Laws' style. Maybe you like his style or you don't, but it is legitimately, his style. Actually, this record is almost a collectors item and a true testament to the era.

3 stars Truly a Great ONe
This recording always reminds me of the good old days in the late '70's & early 80's Los Angeles. I don't understand why it never got the air time of his other pieces.

Though Gino Vannelli's third record didn't contain a big hit single like its predecessor, STORM AT SUNUP was a significant step forward artistically. Combining the Stevie Wonder-esque synth textures of POWERFUL PEOPLE with a complex jazz-rock fusion sound and vocal gymnastics occasionally reminiscent of Tim Buckley, the album finds Vannelli at his most musically ambitious. "Mama Coco" sounds like Weather Report jamming with Jamiroquai singer Jason Kay, while "Love is a Night" makes ELP-style keyboard rock sound like pure love-makin' music.
By this point, Vannelli has pared away the often-bizarre edges of his sound and became more mainstream. That's not a bad thing. This album's predecessor, A Pauper in Paradise, seemed to blow up his pretensions to skyscraper size with only the melodic and gorgeous "The Surest Things Can Change" coming out unscathed. The good news is that Brother to Brother seems to pick up from that point. The big hit here, the sexy and confident "I Just Want to Stop," gets a great ...
