Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; English Subtitles A frustrated New Yorker called Grimm hatches a get-rich-quick scheme so that he can escape from the dreaded city. Enlisting the help of his girlfriend and his best friend since grade school, the troubled urbanite orchestrates a complicated bank heist, during which he is draped in full clown regalia. Everything goes well until Grimm and his gang try to escape from New York. It is only then that the nightmarish chaos of the city truly asserts itself. They may never get out. Bill Murray, Geena Davis, and Randy Quaid play three friends who decide to make a quick score by robbing a bank and taking off for a faraway island. They set up an elaborate, almost playful plan, but every step of the way either Quaid screws it up or New York City just won't let them go, allowing detective Jason Robards to get closer and closer. With the money strapped to their bodies, the hapless trio gets caught up in a series of misadventures as they try desperately to get to the airport.
Co-directors Bill Murray and Howard Franklin both made their film directing debuts with "Quick Change."
Estimated budget $17 million; shot in DuArt color and Panavision.
Peter Montagna also designed and applied Bill Murray's special clown makeup.
Jay Cronley's novel was previously made into a movie in 1985. That adaptation is called "Hold Up" and was filmed in France. The movie was directed by Alexandre Arcady, written by Francis Veber, and stars Jean-Paul Belmondo, but it was never released in the United States. Quick Change Reviews: "...[The film] delivers the comic goods....Murray's sublimely disdainful stare and flat vocal delivery remain a joy..."
-- Mark Kermode, Sight and Sound "...The light comic wit of QUICK CHANGE has a lovely presence....The comedy of QUICK CHANGE is city-dweller humor, honed to a fine edge..."
-- Sheila Benson, Los Angeles Times "QUICK CHANGE is a crisp, efficient and subtly subversive film that makes you wish Mr. Murray would get back in the driver's seat..."
-- Dave Kehr, New York Times

Quick Change Movie Review Quick Change DVD The star of Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day headlines and co-directs this uproarious Big Apple heist-and-pursuit caper. Bill Murray plays Grimm, a frazzled urbanite who disguises himself as a clown - and sets out to rob a bank. Geena Davis and Randy Quaid play accomplices in Grimm's daring scheme and Jason Robards is the blustery cop caught up in Grimm's "Clown Day Afternoon."
Swiping a million bucks is a snap compared to getting out of town. Grimm and cohorts commandeer a car, a cab, a bus, a baggage tram and a plane (and encounter future stars Stanley Tucci and Tony Shalhoub in hilarious supporting roles) to make what becomes for them a less-than-merry escape. But for comedy lovers, Quick Change is a ticket to ride!

$9.85 Blake Edwards's return to the male-in-meltdown territory he explored in 10 and THAT'S LIFE stars John Ritter as unemployed writer Zach, who is not only suffering from writer's block, but his drinking is out of control, as is his obsessive womanizing, and, not surprisingly, his wife wants to end their marriage. To add to his problems, his house has just burned down, and his agent is knocking at death's door. But since this is a Blake Edwards comedy, Zach has enough charm and relative affluence to continue his pursuits, which the director regards with a bemused deatchment. One of his girlfriends sets his piano on fire, and another gets him to wear a glow-in-the-dark condom, allowing him to engage in a condom duel with her jealous, ...

Director Michael Schultz follows up his critically acclaimed and commercially successful COOLEY HIGH with this hilarious day-in-the-life tale set in modern day Los Angeles. At Sully Boyar's car wash, a juvenile, motley crew of city dwellers "work their fingers to the bone" waiting on the eccentric and sometimes haughty clientele. Throughout the day, the young men find time to indulge in personal pursuits: one fellow fantasizes about the pretty waitress working at a local restaurant, a militant preaches politics, while more disgruntled workers find a way to justify their laziness. As the day wears on, ...

$3.19 Dancing and romance collide in ROYAL WEDDING as a brother-sister dance team (Fred Astaire and Jane Powell) open their musical show in London shortly before the English royal wedding and find love of their own. $23.45 Directed by animation legend Hayao Miyazaki, SPIRITED AWAY is the tale of Chihiro (voiced by Daveigh Chase), a young girl who is taken down an unusual road by her parents while moving to a new home in an unfamiliar town. The curiosity of Chihiro's mother (Lauren Holly) and father (Michael Chiklis) leads the reluctant child into what appears to be an abandoned amusement park. Soon her parents are greedily feasting on various delights from an enticing food stand and are literally turned into pigs. The frightened and bewildered girl then encounters a young man named Haku (Jason Marsden), who explains what she must do to navigate this strange and magical realm. Finding employment in a bathhouse for spirits and other odd characters--including kimono-wearing frogs, lumbering tentacled monsters, and a mysterious apparition named No Face--Chihiro attempts to figure out how she can free her parents from the clutches of the resort's owner, a powerful witch named Yubaba (Suzanne Pleshette). In the process, she makes some very eccentric friends--and has to deal with some notoriously stinky customers.
A surreal adventure reminiscent of Lewis Carroll's ALICE IN WONDERLAND, SPIRITED ...

$7.45 This south seas adventure is a classic example of low-budget filmmaking in action. Acclaimed Director Edgar G. Ulmer uses miniatures, rear-projection, and stock footage to give the illusion of on-location lavishness to this largely set-bound, low-budget affair, and the results are rewarding, for the right viewer.
Brawling deep-sea divers Clancy (John Carradine) and Burke (Frank Fenton) find adventure while whetting their whistles at a club called "The Isle of Forgotten Sins." The proprietor, Marge (Gale Sondergaard), is Clancy's sweetheart, ...

Quick Change DVD
$9.09 Dr. P (Billy Bob Thornton) runs a SCHOOL FOR SCOUNDRELS at which luckless men are given a crash course in the ways of the alpha male. Dishing out trite but, to the men involved, revelatory advice about how to "initiate confrontation" and "lie, lie, and lie some more," Dr. P turns his students into virile studs who hide their still-lingering insecurities behind sunglasses and absurd bluster. When one student, the kindhearted but painfully awkward Roger (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE's Jon Heder), has too easy of a time capturing the girl of his dreams, Dr. P's competitive streak goes off the charts and a battle between teacher and student ensues. After an exchange of several pranks, each with increased maliciousness and consequence, one of the two fellas lands the girl.
While SCHOOL FOR SCOUNDRELS (based on a British comedy from the 1960s, and co-written and directed by Todd Phillips) doesn't reach the rambunctious fever pitch of OLD SCHOOL (also directed by Phillips) or contain the oddly endearing, near-sublime vulgarity of THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN, it does have its fair share of laughs. The ...
