GROM is a remastered seven-track release by metal band Behemoth and includes "Lasy Pomorza" and "Dark Forest (Cast Me Your Spell)."

Finally released domestically in the U.S., GROM, Behemoth's breakthrough 1996 sophomore release, offers a wellspring of metallic creativity and blackened ambience. One of the most controversial and diverse albums in the band's career, the album is intriguing for several reasons: it not only featured keyboards and female vocals, but showed Behemoth's uniqueness from the start, with their novel combination of black, Viking, and thrash metal. GROM (Polish for "thunder") is also the only album in Behemoth's catalogue with completely Polish lyrics. Although Poland's evil sons have since grown beyond the stringent confines of black metal, GROM remains a pinnacle moment in Behemoth's evolution.

Behemoth, one of the most infamous black metal acts! 'Grom' - the band's most controversial album now available in a remastered edition! By the time this record was released the band started to be recognized outside the underground scene. During their first ever European tour Behemoth gained stage experience and esteem among the growing number of their fans. This record is considered to be one of the milestones of one of world's best and most popular metal bands, as well as an extreme metal masterpiece. Remastered edition brings back Behemoth's good old days!

This guys really defined there genre, this time around much like its predecessor storming near the baltic, it had really epic guitar lines as well as female vocals, and nergal vocals were also something great on this release not something typical of this genre

Grom
CD $11.65  Top 500 Audio Samples Definitive Album
EVERCLEAR, AMC's finest hour and one the '90s' most powerful albums, is simultaneously lush and searing, heartache and despair borne out in elegant arrangements that combine fragile prettiness and soul-baring howls of pain. Multi-instrumentalist Bruce Kaphan rose to the occasion of his production debut. The canyons of reverb on the instruments are strangely appropriate, highlighting the almost decadent, tragically beautiful feel of the songs. Keyboards, pedal steel, and acoustic guitars drift like abandoned ships swirling around in a colorfully tempestuous sea full of unknown nautical demons. Guitarist Vudi contributes some of the most artful, non-traditional sounds ever concocted by a "rock" axeman. The album begins with a slow, soulful lament to a love who's either sleeping or dead, before taking up the subject of mortality more fully in the anthemic "Rise," written by Eitzel for an AIDS-stricken friend. ...

AND THE FORESTS DREAM ETERNALLY, the early release from Polish goth pioneers Behemoth, features eight tracks including "Transylvanian Forest" and "Moonspell Rites." It's often been said that Slayer's music is the "perfect soundtrack for entering hell," and upon hearing one of Behemoth's first-ever releases, And the Forests Dream Eternally (reissued in 2006), the same could be said about this Polish death metal band. When you hear the phrase death metal, you pretty much know what's in store -- growled vocals, metronome drumming, amphetamine-like guitar riffs, horror movie-like lyrics, Satanic song titles, ghoulish make-up and attire. And Behemoth follows the checklist perfectly. No real musical surprises here, but that's how the majority of death metal-heads would prefer it. It's hard not to feel drained just listening to such full-on metallic onslaughts as "Sventevith Storming ...

Truth be told, the Trembling Blue Stars routine was getting kind of stale by the release of Seven Autumn Flowers in 2004. With that album they crossed the line that divides reliable and predictable; no longer did the morose lyrics, melancholy vocals, minor chords and cheesy synths make a positive impression. Luckily for fans of the band, The Last Holy Writer is a comeback of sorts, certainly an improvement, and maybe even one of their finest records. How did they do it? It's hard to say because on the surface it seems like not much has changed sound or mood-wise. There's still a preponderance of downbeat lyrics and Bob Wratten hasn't suddenly traded in his mope for a smile, no fear of that anytime soon. The building blocks of their sound are mostly the same too. What makes a difference here is a boost in the overall energy level from unrelenting gloom to mostly sad, a slightly expanded sonic palette that makes room for field recordings and a wider range of drum sounds, and most importantly, some really good songs. Chief among them are the Beth Arzy-sung "Idyllwild" which, much like Helen Reddy on the last album, fairly bursts out of the speakers like sun through the clouds, "Darker, Colder, Slower," which has the kind dramatic shifts in dynamics and tone TBS Records need more of, the laid-back near-country rocker "The Tenth of Always," and the almost ...

Type O Negative Origin Of The Feces CD  (1992)

Grom
CD $15.05  4.7 stars Top 500 Audio Samples
Supposedly recorded live at Brighton Beach on Halloween, The Origin of the Feces is actually a poorly played (on purpose) studio record, featuring overdubbed crowd noises that make it sound as though neither the band nor the audience appreciated each other. Most of this material appeared on their first album as sections of longer songs. One exception is a rewrite of "Hey Joe" entitled "Hey Pete," which ...

Released to massive European acclaim, Machine Head's full-length debut, Burn My Eyes, successfully bridges the gap between second-generation Bay Area thrash (Testament, Death Angel, etc.) and the modern-day Pantera school of hard knocks. Although Big Star had been defunct for nearly 20 years by 1993, when radio station KCOU (in Columbia, Missouri) asked singer/guitarist Alex Chilton if he'd be interested in performing a set as Big Star, he surprisingly accepted the invitation. On hand was original Big Star drummer Jody Stephens, while the Posies' Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer filled in for departed members Chris Bell (who died in 1978) and Andy Hummel. While it may not be on par with such other live Big Star releases as 1992's BIG STAR LIVE and 1999's NOBODY CAN DANCE, COLUMBIA: LIVE AT MISSOURI UNIVERSITY 4/25/93 is still a strong effort. You can tell that the newly reunited band is having fun playing together in front of an audience, as evidenced by such classics as "In the Street," "When My Baby's Beside Me," "The Ballad of El Goodo," "Back of a Car," "September Gurls," and "Thank You Friends." Also included are lively coves of T. Rex's "Baby Strange" and Todd Rundgren's "Slut," as well as a version of Chris Bell's solo gem "I Am the Cosmos." 2007 reissue of this long out of print live album from Alex Chilton and friends. This set was recorded in and ...
