POWER FROM HELL is the 1985 album from thrash metal band Onslaught. This CD has 12 tracks.
Originally released in 1985 and reissued a couple of times since, Onslaught's debut album Power from Hell mines territory similar to that of early Slayer, making these Britishers one of the first bands to begin refining that sound into what would become death metal. Still, this is early material, and it isn't as well executed as other death prototypes, although those fascinated with the genre's roots will want to have a listen. ~ Steve Huey
Originally released in 1985 "Power From Hell" came into a time when satanic imagery was labeled "childish Venom worship" and Black Metal was a swear word terrifying musicians labeled as such. Their convincing powerful Black Thrash is as enjoyable in 2005 as it was in 1985.

Metal historians have offered a long list of possible reasons why, in the '80s and early '90s, British thrash metal/speed metal veterans Onslaught were not as well known as Slayer, Metallica, Testament, Megadeth, Anthrax or Exodus -- and those reasons range from uneven, inconsistent albums to inadequate promotion to lineup changes to less than stellar production. Whatever the reason (or reasons), most of those headbanger historians naturally assumed that Onslaught would never be heard from again after disbanding in 1991.
