(2 Customer Reviews)
Shortly after Dedicated was released, the Marshall Tucker Band hunkered down and refined their sound yet again, undoubtedly influenced by drummer Paul Riddle and keyboardist Franklin Wilkie's side project, the jazz fusion group the Throbbers. Designed (surprisingly) with commercial radio in mind, Tuckerized is a polished and slick ten-song session that relies largely on songwriting efforts from outside of the group. As a result, the record has an out-of-step feeling, especially when compared to the totality of the group's hard-driving output, and nowhere is this more evident than on the Randy Newman-penned "Mr. President." And while other moments are enjoyable ("Sweet Elaine" and "If You Think You're Hurtin' Me [Girl You're Crazy]"), this is an album that only die-hard fans of the group will enjoy. ~ Rob Theakston
Recorded at Creative Arts Studio, Spartanburg, South Carolina.

| | Marshall Tucker Band Carolina Dreams CD (1977) Bonus Track; Remastered
Tuckerized
$10.65 Carolina Dreams marks a retreat from the more pronounced country leanings of Long Hard Ride to the more successful country-tinged pop-rock of "Heard It In a Love Song" and "Fly Like an Eagle." They gathered more hits with this approach, and although the hits hold up well, the rest of the album doesn't live up to their quality. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Released in 1977, Carolina Dreams was a commercial breakthrough for the Marshall Tucker Band in large part due to a pair of hit singles -- "Heard It in a Love Song" and "Fly Like an Eagle." It was also the beginning of their transition from one of Southern rock's preeminent "boogie bands" to a unit that was equally versed in country, rock, blues, folk, pop, and jazz. ...

Tuckerized
$10.15 Digitally remastered by John A. Rivers (2001, Woodbine Studios).
Every time Love And Rockets released a new record during the 1980's they were reminded they lived under not only under the shadow of their previous band, Bauhaus, but also with the presence of that band's ex-frontman Peter Murphy, with whose solo career they found themselves in direct competition. Fortunately, by EXPRESS, the band had finally come into their own. Sounding something like a Goth version of T. Rex (guitarist Daniel Ash somewhat resembled Marc Bolan), EXPRESS is a hook-fest from beginning to end.
The album is probably best known for its kinetic cover of "Ball of Confusion," which charted in England and America, but contains any number of gems. However the real stunner here is "Kundalini Express," which builds and builds until the listener has reached, if not Nirvana, at least the Pixies. From the glam rock ...
