| | Marshall Tucker Band Greetings From South Carolina CD Marshall Tucker Band Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
Greetings from South Carolina was the last album to be recorded by the original (except for the late Tommy Caldwell) lineup of the Marshall Tucker Band, prior to a breakup and a restructuring in 1984. While there are a few good songs on this one, it lacks the energy and creativity that burned so brightly within the band during the 1970s and into the early '80s. Exceptions include the Franklin Wilkie composition "Closer to Jesus" and the country "I May Be Easy But You Make It Hard." Of the three recordings produced at their studios in Spartanburg, SC, Greetings from South Carolina stands as the weakest. Still, there are always a few rare gems in any Tucker recording. ~ Michael B. Smith

| | Marshall Tucker Band Carolina Dreams CD (1977) Bonus Track; Remastered
Greetings From South Carolina CD music
$10.65 Carolina Dreams marks a retreat from the more pronounced country leanings of Long Hard Ride to the more successful country-tinged pop-rock of "Heard It In a Love Song" and "Fly Like an Eagle." They gathered more hits with this approach, and although the hits hold up well, the rest of the album doesn't live up to their quality. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Released in 1977, Carolina Dreams was a commercial breakthrough for the Marshall Tucker Band in large part due to a pair of hit singles -- "Heard It in a Love Song" and "Fly Like an Eagle." It was also the beginning of their transition from one of Southern rock's preeminent "boogie bands" to a unit that was equally versed in country, rock, blues, folk, pop, and jazz. The easy grace of Doug Gray's voice and Jerry Eubanks' reeds and woodwinds, juxtaposed with ...

$10.29 Ostensibly just a brutal hard rock record, We Must Burn was also Poison Idea's return to the killing floor, and, therefore, it's a way to continue proving a point. If the point is that Poison Idea had more than enough power, fury, brawn, and ability to reinstate their place ...

$54.69 Recorded between 1969 & 1989. Includes liner notes by Ted Drozdowski.
Though they first came to prominence in the '60s psychedelic era amid many other forward-looking West Coast bands, Santana always stood out from the pack. Their mixture of atmospheric-yet-visceral rock with Latin rhythms and jazz touches made them unique at the time. Though many lesser bands followed in their footsteps (Anybody remember Macondo? Azteca? Didn't think so.), no one ever ...
| | Thousand Foot Krutch Set It Off CD (2001) Remastered; Enhanced CD
Greetings From South Carolina music CDs
$12.29 With the latest craze of Christian hardcore bands hitting the scene, it's sometimes difficult to make the distinction between the pretenders and the contenders. Set It Off, the debut from Thousand Foot Krutch, is a release that vies for the heavyweight title. Whether it's a frontal rap assault or a sung vocal melody, the grooves on this disc pack a lot of punch. The band kicks out the raps like "Puppet" and "Set It Off" with all the angst needed for a bold statement that not only delivers, but also powerfully brings the noise. Tunes like "When ...
