| Wdia: The History, The Music, The Legend Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Great Listen I love this CD set. Disc 1 is all radio show from WDIA over the years. Rufus Thomas pushing Pink Pussy Cat Wine!!! Looking for a cow!! It is history--not a copy of history--but the real history of the first all black programmed radio station in America. It's too much fun to listen to!!
Disc 2 is real Memphis Music. Music by Artists that made WDIA and WDIA made into stars. The Climates, J. Blackfoot, William Bell, Rufus Thomas, Wise Williams, Johnnie Taylor and more!!! I love the music. As a home grown Memphian, I can tell you it is the real thing!! Not the same 10 songs, but newer cuts, And it is great to hear real music again!! Memphis Music at it's Best!!! This 2 cd set has a solid representation of Memphis Music. The Legends we all know and love are still making their music, many on their independant labels, and this cd will help you catch up to them, they have gotten better with time.
Disc 1 is actual broadcasts for the legendary WDIA. You will see why WDIA, the FIRST all black programmed radio station, is known as "The Goodwill Station", always there for a friend in need. Rufus Thomas will make you laugh outloud pusing Pink Pussy Cat Wine. Get it. You'll love it!! Submitted by Blue Boy Soul (Mempis, TN USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
