(17 Customer Reviews)
A tie-in with the Bratz toy line, the ROCK ANGELZ album features the five Bratz girls--Roxxi, Jade, Cloe, Sasha, and Yasmin--fronting their own band. Though they're known for having a "passion for fashion," these Bratz clearly know how to rock out, too. The music here is energetic, guitar-based pop in the Hilary Duff/Lindsay Lohan vein, though "Who I Am" and "Stand Out" add a metal edge to the Bratz's sound. As with any respectable 'tween-pop record, there are soaring power ballads on ROCK ANGELZ, including the yearning "Change the World" and the loner anthem "Nobody's Girl." For Bratz collectors and fans of Duff, Lohan, Avril Lavigne, and other like-minded artists, ROCK ANGELZ is sure to be an enjoyable album that's perfect for singalongs and slumber parties.

| | Norman Foote 1000 Pennies CD (2001)
Rock Angelz music CDs
$14.19 Born Norman Mervyn Barrington-Foote, this songwriter claims that his name forced him to develop a sense of humour at an early age. Drawing from his own experiences, Norman creates songs and stories that delight the ears and eyes. He weaves imaginative word play and gentle wit with great melodies and clever production. Norman has had the undeniable pleasure of performing with symphonies, festivals and in concert halls throughout North America and has written and recorded songs for Disney Records, Shari Lewis, CBC syndicated TV show "Scoop & Doozie" to name a few. Now a father of five, he has created a very special niche with his irreverent comedy and skillful music. He has created his own style in the world of entertainment and continues to leave footprints wherever he travels. www.normanfoote.com
In a better world, listeners could send Canadian singer Norman Foote over to the Middle East for musical peace talks. In that world they would not be necessary anyway, except as a deterrent to heart and soul pollution. If comparing his music to world peace doesn't entice you to fork over 1,000 (or so) pennies for 1,000 Pennies, read no further. The album is a blooming concoction of celestial goofiness and calm. Rainbow-colored strokes pour from front to back on the album's cover, making an appropriate choice for Foote's sixth album, which plays like a summer daydream for its running time of just over 30 minutes. In addition to instruments like the accordion, penny whistle, harmonica, and mandolin, Foote goes where few, if any, musicians have gone before, turning the sound of dropping pennies into an equally effective instrument on the addictive Celtic title track. He also plays his own guitar like a pro, despite the photo appearance of a giddy child who has just picked one up for the first time. There is an old-fashioned charm running amok here, especially through streets of pop and light jazz, that one would be hard-pressed to find on most children's albums. While Kenny Loggins has reinvented classics with his Pooh Corner albums, Foote is at the forefront of kids' music because he writes good songs that haven't been heard before. Some are suited for smaller children, such as "Snuggle Up" and "Loose Tooth." Some are for everyone, such as "Let's Sing a Song" and "Think of Something Good." He experiments with space opera on the tracks "Lost Umbrellas and Odd Socks" and "Circus ...

| | Dawson Cowals Unplugged CD (2004)
Rock Angelz album
$10.59 Dawson Cowals has a haunting voice that demands your ear. An artist who can indeed stand "unplugged", Cowals offers a beautiful array of acoustic scores with an unapologetic social conscience. It works. Faith meets fire and speaks to what is missing in the emptiness of many other works. A polished artist with a bright, shiny soul.- Sue Braiden, CBC Radio Originally released September 5, 2001, this rerelease of Dawson's seventh full-length album showcases his unique acoustic styling with driving rhythms, percussive tapping, and beautiful finger picking. "Unplugged" offers some of Dawson's most heartfelt songs delivered in a raw and honest format, stripped of any production clutter. His lyrics will quickly draw you in with a vocal styling similar to Dave Matthews and challenge you to examine and hopefully find meaning in your life. From "Sticks & Stones" which warns us to guard our tongues to "Stubborn Man" that humbly admits having to go back around the mountain another time to learn a lesson the hard way. In "I'm Not That Strong" Dawson laments the mistake of taking a close friend for granted and paints the emotions he was feeling in the mind of the listener through his lyrics:Left standing in the rain / Hope clutched like an umbrella with holes in it / Hair plastered to my face / Can't you see that it's killing me to admit // That I was wrong / Misconstrued that you'd / Be there all along / I was wrong / Without you, I'm on my own / And I'm not that strong //This rerelease features two new tracks: "Beloved" and "Restore My Soul." All of the songs have been digitally remastered from the original studio recordings. The track order has also been slightly altered to provide a hopefully more pleasing listening experience. If you enjoy acoustic music then you will love the live feel of this CD. All of the songs were recorded live in the studio to capture Dawson's typical coffee shop playing style. For fans of Dave Matthews, John Mayer, or Bebo Norman.Dawson has been writing music for over ...
