In the first wave of U.K. punk outfits, Eater were third-string at best, notable at the time mostly because they were so young -- drummer Dee Generate was said to be only 13 -- but they were at least as good as, say, Slaughter & the Dogs or the Outcasts. With the exception of one obscure single, "Lyin' Again," recorded with Brian James (the Damned, Chelsea, Lords of the New Church) in 1985, Andy Blade retired from the public eye until 2005, when his funny, perceptive memoir The Secret Life of a Teenage Punk Rocker was published. Released in conjunction with his book, Blade's first solo album, Treasure Here, is a pleasant surprise. Not at all punk, Treasure Here strongly recalls the veddy British D.I.Y. pop of the Television Personalities (and related offshoots like the Times and Ed Ball's solo projects), the Cleaners from Venus (Blade bears more than a little vocal resemblance to head Cleaner Martin Newell) and the Chrysanthemums. Bracketed by the brief two-part title track, the meat of Treasure Here is a solid collection of ten melodic, lyrically wry and mature pop songs such as the Robyn Hitchcock-meets-Blur "Statue of People Disease," and the ultra-tuneful Brit-pop of "Filling in Gaps." Naturally, waiting 20 years between releases does tend to result in quite the accumulated backlog of songs, but the most pleasant surprise of Treasure Here is how fresh it feels even despite the overall sense of it being something of a throwback to the U.K. post-punk and indie scene. As a bonus, the album ends with an eight-minute excerpt from Blade's book concerning a failed business liaison with legendary producer Mickie Most. ~ Stewart Mason
Brand new album by the ex-Eater frontman and punk legend, features spoken word track from his new book 'The Secret Life Of A Teenage Punk Rocker'. Cherry Red. 2005.

Purchase Treasure Here CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Lady Gaga Fame Monster CDs (2009) Deluxe Edition
Treasure Here album
$16.24 Initially planned solely as a standard double-disc reissue in the wake of the blockbuster success of The Fame, Lady Gaga decided to release the new material as a separate EP called The Fame Monster in addition to the standard two-CD set, where it's tacked onto a now standardized version of her debut. It's a nice move for fans, plus it helps emphasize the new material, which does act as a bridge from the debut to a forthcoming full-length. Everything on The Fame Monster bears a galvanized Eurotrash finish, as evident on the heavy steel synths of "Bad Romance" and the updated ABBA revision "Alejandro," as it is on the rock & roll ballad "Speechless" -- its big guitars lifted from Noel Gallagher -- and the wonderful, perverse march "Teeth." Even the stuttering splices on "Telephone," a duet with Beyoncé, leans to the other side of the Atlantic, which just emphasizes the otherness that's become Gaga's calling card. And even as she's becoming ...

| | Mariah Carey Merry Christmas CD (1994)
Treasure Here music CDs
$8.75 At this stage of her career Mariah Carey does not need to prove herself, but her voice is so powerful that with each new recording she, once again, reminds you: "Listen to what I can do." Vocal gymnastics and Christmas songs are not often thought of as a compatible combination, but on MERRY CHRISTMAS Mariah jumps, climbs, crawls, twirls and dashes her way through both traditional fare and original Christmas songs.
She shifts through styles, offering fans from all musical camps a gift of their own. Her "Silent Night" shows off a studied vocalization where liquid phrasing is key. "Miss You Most (At Christmas Time)" shows off a dynamic voice that is hard to match. She has fun with the Phil Spector goodie "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," a song straight out of ...

| | Michael Jackson Off The Wall CD (1979) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Special Edition
Treasure Here CD music

As the lead singer of the Jackson 5, Michael Jackson had already been labeled a legend at a young age; but OFF THE WALL introduced the world to the adult Michael Jackson, and proved that he was still very much worthy of that label. It was the real beginning for Michael as a solo artist, and opened the doors for his next album THRILLER, which would become the greatest selling album of all ...

Treasure Here music CDs
$14.75 QUEENS OF KING features various girl groups and female artists that recorded for the King and Federal labels between 1958 and 1964.
This title might be a tad misleading for those on the lookout for music associated with the early-to-mid-'60s girl group sound. There's a bit of that here, but actually it's a 24-track compilation of female-sung R&B sides recorded for the King label between the mid-'50s and mid-'60s. ...

Treasure Here songs
$10.09 During the Christmas of 2008 I wrote 'Just Another Christmas' and 'Baby Jesus'. The inspiration came from a story about military families and how they deal with the holidays when they are apart, especially around Christmas. As a result this album is dedicated to the men and women serving in the U.S. Military, and to their families. In addition to the original ...
