Stan Kenton Concerts in Miniature 1953 CD (2004)
At the Hollywood Bowl 1948 album Concerts in Miniature is taken from radio broadcasts in 1953 and features the Stan Kenton band with Bill Russo as arranger. This was a smoking group that included Lee Konitz, Frank Rosalino, Bill Holman, Stan Levey, and a trumpet section featuring Conte Candoli, Buddy Childers, and Maynard Ferguson. Sound quality is not perfect, as can be expected, but the performances are top-notch throughout. ~ Thom Jurek
