| | Bill Black Down In The Depths CD Bill Black Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Not to be confused with the Memphis bassist of the same name, this Bill Black (1927-1989, also sometimes known as Clay Mundey) was a singer with Gene Krupa's short-lived big band (1948-1950). Black was a rising star in the style of Frank Sinatra and Dick Haymes until a set of mysterious circumstances derailed his career. However, he did complete one album of his own, DOWN IN THE DEPTHS, unissued until this 2005 Japan-only release and digitally remastered.
Part of the series of reissues entitled "Sinatra Society Of Japan Presents". Previously unreleased album by the ex-Gene Krupa band singer recorded in the 50s. 24bit digitally remastered
Japanese issue.
CD comes in Jpn LP Sleeve.

| | Dick Haymes Complete Capitol Collection CDs (2006) England
Down In The Depths
$12.79 In 1955, Capitol Records signed Dick Haymes and attempted to do for him what it had done for Frank Sinatra a few years earlier, resurrect his career. Due to a combination of personal and business problems, Haymes had fallen far from his mid-'40s peak, when he was a major rival to Sinatra among the new crop of solo singers emerging from the big bands. The Capitol sojourn led to 12 recording sessions between December 20, 1955, and April 4, 1957, that produced two LPs, Rain or Shine and Moondreams, and a few singles, only one of which, "Two Different Worlds," managed a brief stay in the ...

| | Sam Newsome Global Unity CD (2001)
Down In The Depths
$9.69 Sam Newsome moved to the indie label Palmetto for the second installment of his Global Unity project. Utilizing a larger cast of musicians and a wider variety of instruments, he vacillates between the edgy sound of his previous record and something a good deal more soft and palatable. Marvin Sewell's acoustic guitar strumming on "When You See the Light," "The Sucker's Game," and "When You Hide From Me" results in an almost poppy feel; pianist Jean-Michel Pilc's three appearances have a similar effect. On the flip side, "Dance of ...

Down In The Depths
$24.05 Liquid Dreams is the collaboration of a female dj and a western classical musician, who both travel back and forth between the hemispheres, and it might be one of the few albums that successfully fuses Indian vibes with western music. India is a continent which developed for thousands of years independently from the West. Part of the eternal fascination of India is that it has been devoted for thousands of years to meditation and introspection and that the depth of its music that comes from this space is unparalleled anywhere in the world. The live instruments are scored against a background of electronica, and include the bamboo flute, tabla, voice, violin and piano, and are all performed by first rate, passionate musicians. One single note of the magnificent flute can be like a soul massage that causes goose bumps in you. Ma Faiza & Veet Sandeh have fresh, new ideas on making music which encompasses the roots of Indian sounds, with acoustic instruments scored to an orchestral context, in an attempt to translate the essence of Indian music into the 21st century expression of electronica. The innocence in this partnership of musical expression has a magical quality and deeply touches the heart of the listener, transcending any artificialness that is found too often in electronic music and allowing an experience of pure emotion and sensuality…This album seduces the listener into a sacred space. It is a one hour journey uninterrupted till the last second, which takes you through its realms and leaves you in a peaceful state of lucid awareness. Think of Dark Side Of The Moon Meets India.Listen and be inspired........Artist profile :Ma FaizaShe is a taste of the exotic, and participates in some of the most cutting-edge concepts in sound, vision and experience. For almost a decade her dj-ing has taken her around the world, and has been leading the global club and festival scene with her music mixture of indian-fusion, ambient, electronic based dance music and psychedelica. Born in Africa and raised in London the dj, artist and producer is a real global player. Apart from dj-ing internationally and madly travelling around the world playing at some of the biggest parties and festivals on the planet, she also works as Head of Artist & Product Development for Masti Music, and contributes to several global publications. After leaving London for India in 1995, she realized her soul connection to her motherland, and her deep sense of belonging. While meeting people from all over the world ...

Down In The Depths
$11.39 With the passionate "Rwanda" recently featured on Ziggy Marley's "Ziggy Radio", and "Abundance of Good" hitting the #1 national spot on Galaxie Radio, CBC in September 2007, people are starting to talk about Souljah Fyah."Souljah Fyah showed up in top form, inspirational leader Janaya Ellis setting the room on fire with her heartfelt presence and constant call for positive action. . . . Ellis' tiny frame practically raised from the ground, glowing as her wild, dreadlocked mane spiraled around her head, following the beat. As the night went on, and sweat poured from every pore, Souljah Fyah solidified their reputation as one of the most dedicated and beloved local acts around . . . the supreme leaders of Edmonton's reggae scene."-performance review, SEE Magazine, January 2006Souljah Fyah is a high-energy female fronted Reggae band out of Edmonton with a wicked stage show.
