| | Boris Mabuta No Ura CD Boris Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
The soundtrack to an imaginary film, this 2005 Boris release occupies an unusual place in their discography; far more delicate and contemplative than their trademark head-first attack, the pieces on "Mabuta No Ura" are shorter, atmospheric sketches which lull the listener away with their understated psychedelic stylings. Each track is framed around a fictitious scene and sequenced accordingly - from the etheral opener "Theme" through to the plaintive, achingly beautiful "White Warmth", which rises and falls amid a wash of cymbals. Ranging from spaced-out acid rock ("A Bao A Qu") to come-down drone ("Yesterday Morning") to the percussion driven raga ("Amber Bazaar") the album runs the full range of emotions. Also released as a limited vinyl edition of 500 on the Inoxia label, the CD comes beautifully packaged with the pieces detailed as eleven short stories. "Mabuta No Ura" is an essential piece in the Boris story, showcasing the artistry and gentler side of this consistently challenging band. Boris Mabuta No Ura Songs | 1. | Theme | |

| Mabuta No Ura Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) OH, Boris...releases are SUPPOSED to be available to people Really, the only thing that has bothered me with Boris. some people, its the slowness (love it). some people its the loudness (love it). others, its the extremely limited and gorgeous packagaging of countless vinyl only and micro-pressings (we're talking less than 500 on some of these). This is where they get under my skin. Now, I don't have THIS version of the soundtrack to a film I would very much like to see, but I do have the brazilian import, that is mostly (?) the same. I purchased it, cause, like a lot of their releases, i didn't even know it existed. brought it home, and didn't get a good chance to sit down with it...next morning, I pop it in and start my day, making coffee, sitting down, looking over some papers and whatnot...man, maybe it was the lighting of my apartment, but there was this sun soaked, warm and intimite feel that emmitted from the speakers attached to the device containing this disc. What a totally different side of BORIS (that i'm learning now has many). The guitars, for the most part, sound like Wata might have actually been playing in the corner somewhere. So brittle and delightfully untouched by edit-friendly production, I could just see her gentle fingers gliding throughout the song with a weightless grace. True BORIS fanatics already have this and maybe another version or two of it, casual BORIS fans maybe weren't ready for the delicate flavors that dominate the majority of this. But it has such a compelling mix of "true music"...remember that kind that makes you think the musician has talent AND meaning and puts them together to make...like...an album...that represents something in time. what a nice gift they could do for us who miss many of music's associated terms, like genuine. | | Shakira She Wolf CD (2009)
Mabuta No Ura CD music
$14.39 Shakira's brand new English album She Wolf is an uptempo pop album. It is all about synthesizers and electronic concepts, all mixed with the world sounds that we are used to from Shakira.. sounds from countries like India, the Middle East and her home country of Colombia. She Wolf features a predominantly English track list with a follow up album of new and unique repertoire in Spanish to come in 2010. The title track "She-Wolf " boasts the infectious and energizing sound that made Shakira a household name, with a slightly more dancey/ electronic beat (about 125 beats per minute). Though most tracks on the upcoming album will be in English, Shakira chose to service the Spanish version of the first single, "Loba", two weeks before the English single is launched.
Last time around, Shakira touched upon so many styles she couldn't be contained on one album, splitting Oral Fixation in two. This time, she focuses on one sound only: a pulsating electro-disco that crosses all boundaries and welcomes all nationalities. Such concentration behooves Shakira, freeing her to release her inner She Wolf, a wild wacko who's as coo coo as she is carnal. And for as sexy as Shakira is -- crucially, her music is sexy too -- what really gives She Wolf its bite is her inspired nuttiness, how she laments ...
| | No Regrets: The Best Of Scott Walker And The Walker Brothers, 1965-1976 CD (1992) (Import) United Kingdom
Mabuta No Ura music CDs
$14.45 The news that the Walker Brothers were preparing a comeback was not the hottest headline of 1975. Some seven years had passed since the trio parted -- seven years during which all three members had essentially sunk from view, without even the benefit of a rabid cult following to set the pulse racing. Remember, this was pre-Tilt, pre-Climate of Hunter, pre-Julian Cope and Marc Almond, pre-all the subsequent developments which raised Scott Walker at least to semi-mythological status. In a nutshell, the Walkers were so washed up, there wasn't a towel in the world that could dry them. But somebody cared, and, by mid-summer, the Walkers were touring the British cabaret circuit and preparing to relaunch their recording career with "No Regrets," a gargantuan slab of maudlin sadness which wrung every last iota of pain from Scott's voice. Six minutes long, it defied almost every law of pop averages -- even Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the Beatles' "Hey Jude" had variety on their side, as they slipped from movement to movement. "No Regrets" was one long sulk from start to finish -- and it was brilliant. The single shot up the U.K. chart, the Walkers were all over the TV, and the album of the same name was the most eagerly awaited of the season. It stunk. Okay, that's not strictly true. It had its moments -- usually the Scott vocals, but occasionally John got a gem in as well. His reggae take on Curtis Mayfield's "He'll Break Your Heart" is a widescreen epic of echo-laden summertime, rivaled in punch only by Scott's closing "Burn Our Bridges." But "Boulder to Birmingham," so recently, sweetly, energized by Emmylou Harris, moldered by comparison with her version, while Janis Ian's "Lover's Lullaby" and Donna Weiss' "Hold an Old Friend's Hand" are the kind of turgid turkeys which the original band broke up to escape from. Had they followed suit this time around, no one could have blamed them in the slightest. ...
