Following up 2000's cast-of-thousands album IOMMI, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi resurrected his solo project for 2005's FUSED. Session-drummer extraordinaire Kenny Aronoff and bassist/keyboardist Bob Marlette are once again on board, with former Deep Purple member Glenn Hughes joining in on vocals and bass. Given Hughes's history with Iommi--he sang on Black Sabbath's SEVENTH STAR, as well as an aborted 1996 Iommi record that eventually saw the light of day in 2004--their pairing seems quite natural. While nobody tops Iommi's rapport with Ozzy Osbourne, Hughes does an admirable job playing off the guitarist's gargantuan riffs, particularly on the fierce "Wasted Again" and the brooding "Resolution Song." FUSED closes on "I Go Insane," a nine-minute-plus suite that begins with David Gilmour-like leads and ends in a flurry of surging solos. In fact, Iommi's huge six-string sound is as potent as ever; this is bold, straightforward heavy metal that will immediately appeal to fans of latter-day Sabbath.
Tony joins forces with former Deep Purple/Sabbath vocalist Glenn Hughes on Fused, his 3rd solo album which is a modern classic, a hard hitting, majestic record containing some of the best material Tony has ever created! 10 total tracks. Sanctuary. 2005. Fused Review

Fused album
$14.45 After the dark and chilling themes of 2006's BLACK CADILLAC, which saw Rosanne Cash dealing with the deaths of her mother, Vivian Liberto, her father, Johnny Cash, and her stepmother, June Carter Cash -- all of whom passed within a two-year span -- one might assume that her next project would move into an even deeper level of bleakness, but with THE LIST, it's immediately clear that she has instead found a more measured place to stand. It's a lovely and redemptive outing that looks back to go forward. When Cash turned 18, her father, ...

| | Muse The Resistance CD (2009)
Fused album
$15.65 With its titanic guitar solos, symphonic suites, and multi-layered melodies, Muse's fifth album operates under the assumption that bigger is better. This is the very definition of a super-sized album, an album that takes its cues from Queen, its lyrics from science fiction novels, and its delivery from rock opera. It's also the first time that Muse has truly sounded like Muse, as few bands since Queen have so readily ...

$14.19 The last Stones studio album of the '60s finds the band, for perhaps the first time, accurately reflecting the spirit of its age. The erstwhile bad boy outsiders of rock now found themselves firmly in the center of the social and political ...
| | Ralph Rebel Big Town Boogie CD (2002)
Fused music CDs
$12.59 "The easily recognizable influences of Bill Haley and Gene Vincent, as well as lesser knowns such as Link Wray, and Louis Prima are discernable not only in the repertoire, but also the stylings. Ralph's original "Set 'Em Up Joe" is authentic enough to leave you wondering where you had heard it before, while his growling "Caledonia" with the addition of the lyric "What makes your big ass so wide" had the drinkers and dancers, and there were plenty of both, falling down with laughter. Elmore James, "Shake Your Money Maker" was given all the respect deserving of it's classic status, and probably was more true to the original get up and dance spirit of the original than is usually heard in the local blues clubs. "Train Kept A Rollin" is done closer to the original than the more familiar Aerosmith cover, and while nothing against those boys from Boston, the ominous character of the original is restored here, and it makes all the difference in the world. This is not ...
| | Cassidy Split Personality CD (2004) Edited
Fused songs
$7.79 Philly-native Cassidy earned his rep practically overnight when in a freestyle contest, he bested hometown hero Freeway, securing a deal with J Records. SPLIT PERSONALITY is the result of his meteoric rise and is more than just an album title; the fast-thinking Cassidy has literally split this disc into three mini-records featuring his varied personas: Cassidy (the lover), Tha Problem (the thug), and B. Reese (the philosopher). It's in the first guise that he collaborated with R. Kelly for his explosively catchy hit single "Hotel," which opens the Cassidy portion of the record.
In fact, it's as "himself" that Cassidy truly shines; "Hotel" has a pop hook and bedroom eyes, "Get No Better" possesses requisite swagger for the lothario don, and "Make U Scream" burns with overflowing raw sexuality. As B. Reese, he offers sharp-eyed street observations, particularly on the message-touting "Real Talk" and the importunate "I'm Hungry." As Tha Problem, he encases his opening rant, "Tha Problem" in an insistent Public Enemy loop and psychotically channels the Geto Boys on the phlegmatic "Blood Pressure." SPLIT PERSONALITY is an intriguing record by one of the more perceptive and promising young voices in hip-hop (think Nas just before recording ILLMATIC).
The decision to make the R. Kelly-assisted "Hotel" the first single off Split Personality made it clear that Cassidy -- or, in reality, his handlers -- wanted to play up his chameleonic nature and fresh-faced image as soon as possible. This was a gamble that landed him in the Top Ten. A track as soft and smooth as Nick Cannon's "Gigolo" (also featuring Kelly), in addition to being thematically interchangeable with Chingy's more recent "Holidae In," "Hotel" did not seem to be an apt debut single for the MC who slew Freeway in battle and tore up a couple verses on mentor/producer Swizz Beatz's G.H.E.T.T.O. Stories. Nonetheless, the track's success diversified the anticipation for the debut album, though those amped for more of the hard material might've been turned off by the exposure-swelling sop to the ladies. Cassidy's different approaches are even more pronounced as the album plays out. Divided into thirds, Split Personality begins with Cassidy's softer, more flirtatious side, and then slides into the harder-hitting material for the latter two-thirds. This set-up is a convenience to listeners who want their Cassidy in a specific mode. The problem is that the MC is much more effective when donning his battle-tested side; as a result, the majority of ...
