Closed Captioned; Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; Director's Comments; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re; Special Edition Robert Mulligan's classic adaptation of Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, set in the racially charged atmosphere of Macon County, Alabama in the 1930s, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD is a poignant coming-of-age story. Winner of four Academy Awards including Best Screenplay (written by Horton Foote), and Best Actor (Gregory Peck), TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD is a timeless film packed with beautiful scenes and meaningful life lessons. The story is told from the vantage point of a young girl nicknamed Scout (Mary Badham) whose widowed white father Atticus Finch (Peck), an attorney, decides on principle to defend a black man (Brock Peters) charged with raping a poor white woman. But the bigoted townspeople would rather lynch the accused than try him, and they make life hellish for the lawyer, his daughter, and his son Jem (Philip Alford). While their father is in the throes of the trial, his bright, inquisitive children learn a hard and unforgettable lesson in justice, morality, and prejudice, part of which requires overcoming an unfounded fear of their mysterious neighbor Boo Radley (Robert Duvall). Theatrical Release: December 25, 1962.
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD was added to the Library of Congress National Film Registry in 1995.
According to author Harper Lee, the character of "Dill" was patterned after Truman Capote, a childhood friend.
This marked the screen acting debut for Robert Duvall as the mysterious Boo Radley.
The DVD includes a documentary about the making of the film, as well as extensive commentary from director Robert Mulligan and producer Alan J. Pakula. To Kill A Mockingbird Video To Kill A Mockingbird Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) My All Time Favorite To Kill A Mockingbird has been my all time favorite movie going back to when I was a child (That was too many years ago to mention when that was). I was mezmerized by this movie this very first time I watched it. I have seen it somewhere between 3 to 4 dozen times. Over the years growing up as I would watch Mockingbird the movie came to mean different to me. As a child I loved the movie because of Jem, Scout and Dill and their adventures. Especially their trying to get a glimps of the notorious Boo Radley. As I got older and became more aware of the civil rights movement I became caught up in the story about Tom Robinson, a black man, and Atticus defending him against the charge of raping a white girl. The trial scene is emotional capped by Atticus' stirring closing argument. The movie is well written, directed, filmed and acted. Gregory Peck gave the performance of his life in this movie for which he won the academy award for best actor. To Kill A Mockingbird touches the heart, soul and conscience. It is considered one of the most inspirational movies of all time. The American Film Institute rated it number 2 most inspirational film after It's A Good Life. It is a must for all to see even if only once. But I guarentee even if you watch it just once it will remain in your conscience and provide a movie experience you won't forget. Lisa's Review The book was wonderful, and the movie was great. I think everybody who graduated High School read this novel, so there's no need for me to tell you that this is a true American Classic, and though this is about one particular event, in one particular southern town, seen through the eyes of a child, I believe that this is the epitome of many true stories that have taken place(and still do), not just in southern US, but all over America...Excellent movie with great actors. No, No, No! No speeding car chases! No major gun battles! No nude scenes! All this movie has is a great story and great performances. Peck is great, sooo natural. He's not afraid to work with those amazing kids. This ranks right up there at the top of 'the list'. Submitted by a reviewer (Minnesota) Was This Review Helpful? To Kill A Mockingbird review
$10.49 With the release of Robert Altman's M*A*S*H in 1970, a new form of comedy was born, one that would help to forever change the face of cinema. Altman's audacious film reflected the American counterculture's growing distrust of religion and government in the late 1960s and early 1970s, resulting in one of the biggest box office smashes of its time. Introducing the techniques ...

To Kill A Mockingbird video
$9.69 The grisly and debauched film PATHOLOGY is a juiced-up medical thriller that plays like FLATLINERS with a mean streak and a broken moral compass. Writers Mark Nelvedine and Brian Taylor have created a premise allowing for CSI-like forensics along with heaps of sex and violence, truly making the most of the film's R-rating. A high-end exploitation film with good performances, PATHOLOGY is strong enough for horror fans and should go down smoothly for non-squeamish viewers with a taste for the dark side.
Gifted med student Ted Grey (Milo Ventimiglia, HEROES) arrives at a major Washington, D.C., as an intern, where he is met with suspicion and resentment by the tightly knit group of fellow young pathologists-in-training. Soon, though, Ted is accepted into their circle---where they each take turns committing a murder so that the others may prove their mettle by figuring out the cause of death and celebrate with drug-fueled orgies among the dead bodies in the hospital. Things change for Ted, though, when his law student fiancée, Gwen (Alyssa Milano), moves to the city and helps to scare him straight. Soon, crazed Wallace Stevens-quoting leader Jake Gallo (Michael Weston) turns on Ted, putting both ...

To Kill A Mockingbird video
$13.55 Oscar winning director Sydney Pollack takes a sharp sideways turn with SKETCHES OF FRANK GEHRY, a documentary about the noted architect. Usually known for making grandiose productions such as THE FIRM and OUT OF AFRICA, Pollock adds a genuine curio to his filmmaking resume with this movie. Although the two men have been friends for years, Pollock thankfully bypasses the opportunity to pay a fawning tribute to Gehry, instead presenting a well-balanced portrait that offers both positive and negative commentators the chance to etch their thoughts into celluloid. But it quickly becomes clear that the biggest naysayer of all is Gehry himself, who is painted as a highly self-critical man, clearly ill-at-ease with fame and his own achievements. Pollock offers some screen time to Gehry's magnificent creations, but not as much as a less experienced director might have done, instead choosing to focus on the man himself. People such as Gehry's therapist, Milton Wexler, and garrulous artist/director Julian Schnabel (BASQUIAT) offer their thoughts, but the real magic occurs when Pollock and Gehry are on ...
