Outsider songs Product Information
Outsider album for sale by Rodney Crowell was released Aug 16, 2005 on the Sony Music label. The fact that Crowell covers a Bob Dylan song here (a lovely take on "Shelter from the Storm," rendered as a duet with Emmylou Harris) is not coincidental. Outsider songs The influence of Dylan hangs heavy in Crowell's songwriting, from his critiques of consumer culture ("The Obscenity Prayer") to his moments of personal revelation ("Beautiful Despair"). Rodney Crowell is on a roll and taking chances as well. He is not content simply to recycle his considerable talent, but has a need to challenge the listener and the listener's beliefs with his songs.

||Thoughtful songs that are both edgy and seductive|
Growing up in Houston, Rodney Crowell grew up solidly grounded in country music. He was lured to Nashville by a promoter who didnít follow through on his promise to use Crowell as an opening act on a major tour.

I was in Nashville two days before the release of "Outsiders" to see his show. I had heard three of his songs from the yet to be released album.

||An 'insider' view of "The Outsider"|
For the past six years Rodney Crowell has continued to mature as a writer and singer. His 'trio' of albums, beginning with "The Houston Kid," followed by 2003's "Fate's Right Hand," and going full circle with the release of "The Outsider" on August 16, has put Rodney in a catagory that has few peers.
