Rick James - Super Freak 1982 DVD

I saw Rick perform on this same tour with Teena Marie. It was the best concert I've ever attended. Too bad they decided to record this concert in Germany and not in LA! Audience does does not appreciate or understand Rick and it shows in his performance. It is still good to see him in his prime.

Other than sound quality (his voice tended to drown the band) itwas good to see Rick James as I remember him. One of the top performers of his time. Good product!

 Not the best
The energy is lost with this live video. There has to be somewhere a better live performance by such an influential performer. The sound was bland without the distinct sound of the bass that really added the soulful bottom to all rick's studio music. He ad-libbed most of the songs and it seems as if he was performing ego-mechanically in an altered state of mind....if you get my drift. But hey..that's rick james. How can you do "standing on the top" without the temptations. This was a very pathetic attempt. If you want to enjoy the performances of rick james I would recommend you obtain the videos he made for his best hits where he lip synced the performance. Just keeping it real.
