Gourmandises album
$15.95 This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by DJ David Waxman.
Despite the rather unfortunate title, Ultra Chilled, Vol. 1 assembles some of the most established names in down-tempo electronica and trip-hop, mixing them with some relative unknowns. The flow from Dido to Gorillaz to St. Germain to Morcheeba is deceptively smooth, as is what will be most listeners' introductions to acts like Zero 7 and Goldfrapp, with each song seamlessly blending into one another. The sequencing on the two-disc set is a little predictable, with many of the better-known artists grouped near the front of each disc, but little glimmers of familiarity (like Alex Gopher's "The Child" on disc two or the impeccable inclusion of Badly Drawn Boy's "The Shining" on the first disc) near the ends frame the collection nicely. What could be considered dusty artifacts in the world of electronic music (Massive Attack's 1991 song "Hymn of the Big ...

Gourmandises CD music
$13.85 Constructing a mix album out of others' mix albums is a baffling proposition, but Global Underground: Locations does just that. Mixed by the series' own the Forth (previously responsible for Global Underground: Arrivals and Global Underground: Departures), this one also grabs tracks from past editions (devoted to Lee Burridge, John Digweed, Deep Dish, Darren Emerson) with no rhyme and no reason why these tracks couldn't have been taken from the original sources. At least the Forth steers away from high-gloss trance, instead sticking to '90s house. ~ John Bush
The 4th release in the Global Underground Sampler series brings ...

Gourmandises music CDs
$16.59 The blueprint for Ultra Chilled, Vol. 2 is the same as the solid first edition in Ultra's downbeat series -- which rose above the heap of substandard, commercialized chill-out compilations -- with compilers balancing a few downtempo tracks by a varying cast of vocal artists (Coldplay, the Specials, Black Box Recorder, Nelly Furtado, Bebel Gilberto, Radiohead) with electronica specialists (here, usual suspects like Boards of Canada, Groove Armada, Thievery Corporation, Tosca, Fila Brazillia, and Röyksopp). ~ John Bush
Fans eager for a successor to the solid first edition in Ultra's downbeat series -- which rose above the heap of substandard, commercialized chill-out compilations -- will likely be disappointed by Ultra Chilled, Vol. 2. The blueprint is the same, with compilers balancing a few downtempo tracks by a varying cast of vocal artists (Coldplay, the Specials, Black Box Recorder, Nelly Furtado, Bebel Gilberto, Radiohead) with electronica ...

Gourmandises CD music
$17.45 2008 release. U.K. R&B singer/songwriter Craig David emerged in the late 1990s as the smooth, soulful voice on U.K. Garage act Artful Dodger's "Re-rewind (The Crowd Say Bo Selecta)." Blending the beats of the emergent U.K. Garage scene with slick, commercial vocals, David swiftly crossed over into ...
| | Lyrical Assassin Anger Management CD (2009)
Gourmandises music CDs
$15.95 Rap artist Lyrical Assassin also called L.A. for short, has been called the next person to carry Chicago on her back and if you were to see her perform you’d definitely notice that she “shines brighter than her city’s skyline at night”. Armed with a fast paced energetic style and creative lyrical content, Lyrical Assassin makes people realize why her stage name fits her perfectly. L.A.’s latest project includes her long awaited and highly anticipated debut release entitled Anger Management, in which she takes fans on a trip through her innermost thoughts and emotions. Using this release as an outlet to vent her frustrations, L.A. gives music credit for keeping her out of unnecessary trouble and confusion. Tracks such as “Trouble Keeps Calling” and “Back Stabbers” tell of real life experiences that she has been through, while others such as the controversial “Who You Talking Too?” and “Break Out” show just why music is her sanity. L.A.’s sanity will also come to life in front of your eyes with the debut of her first music video off of Anger Management, which she is letting her fans choose.Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, L.A. at times went through monetary struggles with her parents but at the same time was blessed, mainly because whether the lights or heat were cut off for a little while during the winter months, they always found a way to put a meal on the table. These tough times are in part what shaped her into the person that she is today. Although it seems like a common lesson, L.A. realized that in spite of life’s setbacks, hard work and determination could make anything possible. Having a “Go-getter’s” mentality and pure talent, Lyrical Assassin vowed to do whatever she had to do in order for her story to be heard and she has been doing that ever since. Believing that a person should invest in themselves before someone else will, L.A. took it upon herself to start her own label, The Assassins ENT, and in turn signed herself as the first recording artist. With that said, L.A. has invested her own money into studio time, printing up her own CD’s, creating her own website, and paying for her own video shoots. She has also taken it upon herself to set up her own radio interviews and shows, many of which have included opening up for already established recording artists and even performing her own 30minute concert at Rockford College. L.A. jokingly and proudly recalls this show as being one her best because all she remembers having with her that day are her instrumentals, her little brother by her side and butterflies in her stomach.. She didn’t have the huge entourage with her that “rappers” are stereotyped as having, or the Chicago regulars that were familiar with her music. Fortunately for her though, she got all of those in attendance on their feet, and left Rockford with a load of new fans. With all that Lyrical Assassin has done out of her love of music, she promises that this is only the beginning of what she knows will be a long and successful career. Just as noticeable as her attention grabbing lyrics is her attention grabbing tattoo located on the front of her neck ...
