My First Holly Golightly Album album
$13.85 Holly Golightly's guest appearance on the White Stripes' 2003 album, ELEPHANT, singing the duet "It's True That We Love One Another," raised the British singer-songwriter's American profile considerably. Happily, however, other than the fact that this album's liner notes were written by Jack White, there is no apparent attempt to curry the favor of a more mainstream audience on 2003's TRULY SHE IS NONE OTHER. As is typically true of her work, these 13 songs sound as if they were recorded quickly but not sloppily, and among the 1960s-revering Golightly originals are four relatively obscure covers, including two songs ...
| | M Ward Post-War CD (2006)
My First Holly Golightly Album CD music
$12.19 The title of M. Ward's fifth full-length, POST-WAR, begs the question, post which war? From early 20th-century folk blues to Tin Pan Alley hooks to the various indie-rock schools of the early 2000s, Ward's music works as ...

| | Trans-Siberian Orchestra Night Castle CDs (2009)
My First Holly Golightly Album CD music
$11.35 NIGHT CASTLE appears just in time for the big 2009 holiday season but don't be fooled: this isn't a Christmas album, even if it's sonically indistinguishable from Trans-Siberian Orchestra's other seasonal releases, and the fact that it's been dubbed "Capra-esque" certainly brings it within the realm of the season. NIGHT CASTLE brims with all the drama, pomp, and circumstance of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's other records but channeling these traits through a newly created narrative does have the effect of hearing it in a somewhat new light, shifting the focus entirely to the band's attack, not melody. Still, there's not that much new here -- and the coda of seasonal covers, including the first sober version of "Nutrocker" ever cut, doesn't do much to break that spell. But for those already enchanted by the Orchestra, this will continue to enthrall.
Night Castle appears just in time ...

| | Yusef Lateef Sounds Of Yusef CD (1957)
My First Holly Golightly Album songs
$13.95 Yusef Lateef was always a pacesetter in jazz. Even early in his career as a leader (1950's), he brought new elements, instruments and concepts to hard bop. 1957's THE SOUNDS OF YUSEF is no exception to this. Performing on tenor saxophone, flute and an obscure instrument called an argol (a double clarinet ...
