This set presents 47 of their much sought after recordings produced between 1949 and 1953. Gospel music from the genres golden era of the late '40s and '50s is not well represented on CD and Acrobat is committed to making as much of this fantastic music available again. There is no doubt the Spirit of Memphis were one of the leading and certainly most influential church-wrecking quartets of the late '40s and '50s. Their forte was a solid "front line" of shared-lead singers who blended a soothing, satisfying and sanctified approach. This release includes extensive sleeve notes by leading gospel expert Opal Nations. Acrobat. 2005.

A Must Have
Anyone that loves the Gospel Quartets of the "Golden Years" will be thrilled with this collection. Sure, not every song is covered, but this pair of CDs do have a remarkable range. It is most interesting to follow the groups' progress through the years covered. Buy it... you will love it! Cheers, TopCat James

Bought this for my Dad and he loved it.
I asked him, "How did you like the CD" and "He said", "AMEN".
He really liked it for the common folk who don't understand Christian language.
