| | Switchblade Symphony Serpentine Gallery: Deluxe 2005 Edition CD Switchblade Symphony Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Originally issued in 2005, SERPENTINE GALLERY marks the full-length debut of the San Francisco-based goth ensemble Switchblade Symphony. Proudly reveling in its Siouxsie & the Banshees/Dead Can Dance influences, the duo of Tina Root and Susan Wallace excels at creating a dark, decadent mood, as revealed by the edgy "Bad Trash" and woozy "Wrecking Yard."
Switchblade Symphony includes: Tina Root (vocals); Susan Wallace (keyboards); Robin Jacobs (guitar).
Alternative Press (1/97, p.83) - 4 (out of 5) - "...[Susan Wallace] elaborates cosmically, with Middle Eastern riffs, digital scratches, and an electronic string quartet programmed to sustain..." | | Elvis Presley ELV1S: 30 # 1 Hits CD (2002) Remastered
Serpentine Gallery: Deluxe 2005 Edition songs
$10.39 Includes liner notes Peter Guralnick and Ernst Mikael Jorgensen.
Commemorating the 25th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, 30 #1 HITS presents a career-spanning serving of the King's chart-toppers.
Dating back to "Heartbreak Hotel" (which was inspired by a suicide note printed in the Miami Herald), most of these cuts have become indelibly etched into the fabric of pop culture and each has a unique story behind it. "Love Me Tender" has its origins in the Civil War ballad "Aura Lee," "It's Now Or Never" found Elvis Americanizing the Neapolitan ballad "O Sole Mio," and "Wooden Heart" likewise was converted from a German children's song.
This Memphis native's choice of artists to cover was equally intriguing and includes Hollywood legend Al Jolson ("Are You Lonesome Tonight?"), New Orleans soul shouter Smiley Lewis ("One Night"), blues great Big Mama Thornton ("Hound ...

Digitally remastered by George Horn (1995, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
Guided, perhaps, by musical snobbery or roots-rock phobia, some people inexplicably don't like Creedence Clearwater Revival. As the kings of earnest country-inflected rock in an age when radical stances were de rigueur, CCR sported straight-ahead tunes, and may have seemed a bit unhip. But their music stands the test of time with a vengeance. For the doubtful listener, this outstanding, 20-track hits collection has evidence of their greatness in staggering abundance.
Though they produced several excellent albums, Creedence was predominantly a singles band, and CHRONICLE compiles many of their biggest ...
| | Steve Miller Number 5 CD (1970)
Serpentine Gallery: Deluxe 2005 Edition music CDs
$9.45 Steve Miller's first release of the 70's, NUMBER 5, saw the guitarist still bridging the adventurous psychedelic blues of his early work with the radio-pumping classic rock that he would perfect by the middle of the decade. Producer Glyn Johns (Rolling Stones, The Who) adds some interesting sonic experimentation to the album, which adds a new dimension to Miller's music and approach, especially on songs like "Industrial Military Complex ...
