Prom Kings songs like "Better Man," "Birthday," and "Blow" will slot perfectly next to Seether, Chevelle, and Three Days Grace on modern rock radio. But in case you get lost in similar sounding songs, vocalist Chris Carney drops helpful reminders. "You know the Prom Kings make it last all night!" he says in "Birthday," reiterating later during "Blow" "Girl you're rollin' with the Prom Kings!" The album's pillowy production doesn't allow for many true rock moments -- when choruses do try to kick it in, they usually feature string sections, too. But towards the end of the album "Down" does try on some rock atmosphere, channelling the processed grit of Linkin Park. Aftermath gangsta MC the Game even shows up mid-song for a spirited rap. ~ Johnny Loftus
The Prom Kings are the new bland. Sure, "Better Man," "Birthday," and "Blow" will slot perfectly next to Seether, Chevelle, and Three Days Grace on modern rock radio. But where are the Prom Kings amidst the scrubbed distortion, overdone vocals, and severe programming of their self-titled debut? In case you get lost, too -- "Who is this I'm listening to?" -- vocalist Chris Carney drops helpful reminders. "You know the Prom Kings make it last all night!" he blurts in "Birthday," reiterating later during "Blow" "Girl you're rollin' with the Prom Kings!" They're no doubt rolling in a nondescript grey Chevy Malibu, because that's about how distinctive this album is. Its pillowy production doesn't even allow for sufficient rock moments -- when choruses do try to kick it in, they're usually marred by string sections. Towards the end of the album, "Down" does try on some rock atmosphere. Too bad it's a Linkin Park rewrite with none of that group's (limited) grit. Even when Aftermath neo-gangsta the Game shows up mid-song for a spirited rap, he and the Prom Kings are only emulating what Jay-Z and LP already did on the Collision Course record. ~ Johnny Loftus

Prom Kings Music Review Average Rating: (4.2 out of 5 stars) just honest not worth the money. There are way much better bands than this one. Liked two or three songs on the album but I should have just downloaded from my computer. I doubt this band will make it Submitted by jaz (San Antonio, TX, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

special unlike other ripoffs, this cd is really quite good. it has several radio-friendly hits and has a nice flow to it, mixing nice slow songs with dance metal. however, the fact remains that you could throw this cd in a linkin' park case and no one could tell the difference. Prom Kings
$11.99 This is an enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
Additional personnel includes: George Clinton, Kid Rock, Lil' Kim, The Crystal Method, Snoop Dogg, Fred Durst, Mixmaster Mike.
Former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee's new musical masterpiece, METHODS OF MAYHEM, is the product of his collaboration with rapper TiLo. Sparked by pent-up frustration as a result of jail stints, run-ins with the law, and tabloid reporters, Lee pulled together numerous stars from the worlds of rock & roll and and hip-hop.
Joining Lee and TiLo are Kid Rock ("New Skin"), Snoop Dogg ("Who the Hell Cares"), and Scott Kirkland of Crystal Method ("Spun," "Narcotic"). Though one might mistake METHODS OF MAYHEM for a short-lived side project, it is clear from the intensity that ...
| | Breaking Benjamin We Are Not Alone CD (2004)

$10.45 When Aaron Fink and Markus James left Universal Records act Lifer to join the then-unsigned Breaking Benjamin, many hard-rock fans were skeptical. WE ARE NOT ALONE, the latter band's ...
| | Avenged Sevenfold City Of Evil CD (2005)
Prom Kings
$9.49 Even though Avenged Sevenfold's first two albums clearly got them lumped into the emo camp, the California quintet always hinted at the heavy metal influence of bands like Iron Maiden. With their major-label debut CITY OF EVIL, not only have they fleshed out these tendencies via the intricate riffing of dual guitarists Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates, but they've begun to dabble with more intricate, prog-like song structures. And with singer M. Shadows recovering from vocal chord surgery, he employs a considerably more melodic approach.
The first half of CITY cleaves to what longtime fans have ...

| | Toadies Rubberneck CD (1995)
Prom Kings
$9.55 If you swear by Faith No More, if the musical stylings of those fun-loving Chili Peppers really get the blood moving through your veins, if the Sex Pistols are your idea of a great band from the past (and why shouldn't they be?)--well, podna', allow us to introduce you to Toadies. No, not "The" Toadies. Just Toadies, thank you, and leave your eardrums at the door. This Fort Worth hard-core quartet serve up a singular brand of punky blues: lots of noisy, guitar-centered songs, and a healthy dose of irony. In other words, these guys don't take themselves too seriously, and RUBBERNECK is all the better for it.
Take "Possum Kingdom," in which Todd Lewis pitches his woo with more than a hint of sarcasm--or is it? "I'm not gonna lie/I'll not be a gentleman/Behind the boathouse/I'll show you my dark secret..." Behind the boathouse, behind it all, the band churns, slow and funky, while a whining, circular guitar riff almost seems to mock the proceedings. There's more than a little Nirvana influence--Andy Wallace, who worked on that band's seminal "Nevermind," also did the mixing chores here.
This is Alternative Rock that doesn't sound like all the other Alternative Rock out there, mainly because the band has a knack for stringing together simple but devastatingly effective rock hooks. Witness "Tyler," another track that showcases Toadies' ability to explode out of a spare, bass-driven pulse, into a brutal wash of cloudy guitars and loops of feedback.
The Toadies' debut album is a streamlined version of the ...
| | Cat Stevens Mona Bone Jakon CD (1970) Remastered

| | Snapcase Bright Flashes CD (2003)
Prom Kings
$11.39 Steeped in hardcore but progressive enough to try and pull punk in a new direction, Snapcase hasn't always succeeded and in fact, its back catalog is pretty flawed. But after a decade of daring to be different, Bright Flashes finds the band for the most part delivering the goods. What's funny is that this album is actually a hodgepodge of covers, remixes, and holdovers from 2002's End Transmission, but the diversity of the material holds the listener's interest in a way that no previous Snapcase album could. "Believe/Revolt," for instance, is bravely and successfully reborn as an aggressive club number and is offset by an explosive ...
