With 2005's THE FUSE, hardcore veterans Pennywise stick to what they do best--anthemic punk that splits the difference between fellow Californian acts Bad Religion and NOFX. Clearly influenced by the former band and not as jokey as the latter, Pennywise embraces the socio-political bent of both groups, with vocalist Jim Lindberg addressing media manipulation ("Fox TV"), technology overkill ("Disconnect"), and war ("18 Soldiers"), while guitarist Fletcher Dragge launches a volley of fierce riffs that soar over the tight rhythmic interplay. Although still associated with 1990s skate-punk culture, Pennywise has matured beyond that aesthetic. Remaining staunchly in the vein of LAND OF THE FREE? (2001) and FROM THE ASHES (2003), THE FUSE exemplifies the straight-forward, sharply honed Pennywise sound.

Fuse Music Review Average Rating: (3.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews pennywise not what they used to be cd is good if your just getting into the band but for old school fans its probably gonna bore you, same style and same type of lyrics check out their older stuff Submitted by tommy (chi town) Was This Review Helpful? Awesome I love this record; better than From The Ashes but not quite as good as Land Of The Free...I saw these guys along with Ant-Flag and Bad Religion last night in Detroit, and it was by far the best show I've ever seen. Jim Lindberg shook my hand when he left the stage, and Fletcher dumped some water on us because it has hella hot in there. It's nice to see a band nowadays that doesn't need MTV in order to make tons of fans and put on a great show. Submitted by tylerb1085 (Midland, MI) Was This Review Helpful? it's punk, what did you expect? to those who bopught a pennywise record, then found it boring. sure maybe you have been a fan for a good number of years. or maybe you're just getting into the band. but it's punk, what did you expect, mozart? the genre is known for its short bursts of 3 chord explosions. so if you continue to buy records by the same bands, yea, eventually, you're it's going to get tiresome...to some. never short of amazing great cd pennywise never had a bad album Submitted by matt (pahoa,HI,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
YAAAWWWWNNN Just about every Pennywise cd now days sounds the same. Everysong is repetitive and gets really boring really fast. Come on, how many times can you slide a bar chord up and down and make a "new song" out of it. And that goes for alot of punk bands too, its the same song over and over again. I've been a Pennywise fan for about four years now and its just becoming boring. Byron only knows one beat, Fletcher only knows maybe two chords, the bassist sucks, and Jim talks about the same junk over and over again. Do yourself a favor and stick to the older releases. Fuse album
$9.89 Along with other California third-wave punk bands like NOFX and MXPX, Pennywise came to fame in the '90s as a major part of the skater/extreme sports milieu. Though the Offspring had more financial success with a pretty similar sound, Pennywise always had the market cornered ...
| | Pennywise Land Of The Free? CD (2001)
Fuse CD music
$9.65 Pennywise themselves are calling Land of the Free "a wake-up call," aimed at the slumbering masses of America -- an attempt to shake people out of their lethargy, and prod them into thinking about the world. It's also a clarion call to action, made most forcibly on "Fuck Authority," via its demand that "it's time we had our say." However, given the opportunity, Pennywise isn't quite sure what it is they want to say. The songs throw out concerns and reactions, opinions and questions, ideas and concepts, unleashing their own mixed emotions along the way. The quartet's frustration with the current state of affairs singes the tracks, yet solutions and causes by and large evade them. At times it's evident the group feels like they're calling to the deaf while stumbling blindly around in the dark. "Is there anyone listening?" they inquire at one point, half in plea, half in defiance. Pennywise is high enough up in the punk hierarchy to know the answer is yes. Wrapping their message in a barrage of melodies and pummeling beats insures that at every show hundreds of kids will parrot back Land's lyrics, fists punching the air. But will these ...
| | Pennywise From The Ashes CD (2003)
Fuse music CDs
$10.89 With their eighth album, FROM THE ASHES, Pennywise continues down the same uncompromising and rebellious path that found them snubbing major labels back in the mid-1990s, when peers like Green Day, Offspring, and Bad Religion were hopping aboard the gravy train. With Byron McMackin and Randy Bradbury providing jackhammer rhythms and guitarist Fletcher Dragge firing off machine gun riffs, vocalist Jim Lindberg aims his crosshairs at plenty of political and social issues. "God Save the USA" finds Lindberg having a chat with the big guy in the sky and eviscerating a number of right-leaning demagogues including the CIA, NRA, and President Bush, while "Look Who You Are" hammers at apathy amidst the conservative atmosphere of 2003. Boredom ("Something to Change"), nostalgia ("Yesterdays"), and cynicism ("Judgement Day") are all topics addressed with the kind of focused, melodic fury that's ...

Fuse CD music
$12.65 Brother-sister duo BeBe and CeCe Winans became one of the most successful Christian crossover acts of all time, garnering hit after hit with their ultra-smooth brand of contemporary R&B-style gospel. 2009's STILL is a slick, energetic, dancefloor-ready slice of funky positive message music that benefits from both modern and vintage approaches to production. The first single, "Close to You," is a hip-grinding hip-hop slow jam, while "Things" is driven by an old school disco/funk rhythm reminiscent of Cheryl Lynn's "To Be Real." The sweeping, sting-laden "Grace" showcases CeCe's powerful vocals, while "Reason to Dance" channels Michael Jackson's propulsive ...
