Going In Circles album
$12.59 Before Titanic, James Horner was not above composing scores for cartoonish family films, and many of those that brought him on their production board owe him greatly. The Rocketeer directed by Joe Johnston (Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Jumanji, October Sky) entails the story of a young pilot during World War II who happens upon a rocket pack that allows him to fly. The film is based on the tradition of old film serials that left theater-goers hanging with "To be continued," and aside from modern production, it is old fashioned and innocent fun. Horner's score begins and ends with the brilliant "Main Title," which is so moving it was used in previews for later films that did not yet have finished scores. Most of the Rocketeer soundtrack elicits the adventure and lifting spirit of the film ...

Going In Circles music CDs
$9.59 Additional personnel includes: The Emotions, The Phoenix Horns.
Recorded between 1973 and 1981. Includes liner notes by Mark Coleman.
Columbia's 1998 collection of Earth, Wind & Fire's Greatest Hits in many ways stands as the group's definitive compilation. Even though there have been more extensive overviews of the group's work, such as the triple-disc set The Eternal Dance, this is the first collection to contain all of the group's biggest hits on one disc. All but one ("Love Music") of the ten songs from 1978's The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire are included, while six of the ten songs from The Best Of, Vol. 2 are featured; the remaining two cuts on the 17-track collection are the minor early single "Kalimba Story" and the album cut "Gratitude." These are fine additions to the album, but the true ...

Going In Circles album
$7.96 Within a couple years, Canadian teenager Justin Bieber went from covering Usher on YouTube to working with Usher. An internet sensation from his renditions of several pop and pop-oriented R&B hits, he was still only 15 years old when he released this, his first album -- though it's more like an EP since it is contains only ...
| | Jay-Z The Blueprint 3 CD (2009)
Going In Circles CD music
$15.65 On THE BLUEPRINT 3, still unretired Jay-Z announces "the only rapper to rewrite history without a pen." It's a standard Jigga boast, but the Brooklyn icon has earned the bragging by backing it up, particularly on his gold-label, top-shelf BLUEPRINT series. Ever-ready for battle, Jay-Z takes on autotune, crossover radio, and many other hip-hop concerns with the gloriously jagged rap elan for which he's become known.
When Jay-Z first made a series out of his best album, 2001's The Blueprint, it became a game of high expectations. The first volume saw Jay-Z as vital as he'd ever been, storming back to the hardcore after a few years of commercial success. THE BLUEPRINT 2 took a different tack, with guest shots to compliment his sinuous flows. BLUEPRINT 3 is somewhere between the two, closer to the vitality and energy of the original but not without the crossover bids and guest features of the latter. Kanye West is in the producer's chair for seven tracks, and it's clear he was reaching for the same energy level as the original. "What We Talkin' About" begins the album with a wave of surging, oppressive synth, while Jay-Z enumerates (with an intriguing lack of detail) what he's said and what's been said about him, ending with a nod not to the past but the future (and Barack Obama). ...

Going In Circles album
$14.59 For this second CD, Elevado, Astral Project keep mining the deep wellspring of original music written by their membership. Five tracks come from the pen of saxophonist Tony Dagradi, plus three apiece from guitarist Steve Masakowski and bassist James Singleton. All have that unmistakably vibrant New Orleans flavor within a modern jazz context, displaying a cool urgency driven by the rhythmic brilliance of drummer John Vidacovich, and colored by Dagradi's potent melodic sax work, the astounding piano punch of David Torkanowsky, ...

Going In Circles music CDs
$15.85 A revivalist band like Showaddywaddy is, almost by definition, not one that's going to show much growth or change over the course of their albums. So their third LP was in the same style that had brought them success over two prior albums and a bunch of hit mid-'70s British singles: homages to pseudo pre-Beatles rock & roll styles, including doo wop, Buddy Holly, and rockabilly, with a bit of glam thunder and a knowing nostalgic air. Was it on the level of its inspirations? Of course not, but it was reassuringly catchy for their audience, though that audience shrank for the third album, which stopped just outside the British Top 40. Nine of the 12 songs are originals, including the small hit title track, padded out by covers of Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent, and Chuck Berry. The Gary Glitter-like football chants are most prominent in "Lookin' Back"; '70s pop balladry asserts itself in "Paint Your Picture"; the Buddy Holly imitation gets slavish on "Heavenly"; and "Sweet and Innocent You," another Holly-esque ditty, is spiced with corny early-'60s type pizzicato strings. The 2002 CD reissue on 7T's ...
