This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Arriving about a month before Hilary Duff turned 18 and presumably right around the time her record contract was coming to an end, 2005's Most Wanted is a tossed-off hodgepodge of seven previously released songs (including the hits "So Yesterday" and "Fly"), three new remixes (including one of the hit "Come Clean"), and three new songs. Nothing screams contractual obligation quite like this kind of grab bag, and hardcore fans will be hard-pressed for a reason to add this to their collection, since they not only have nearly everything here, the new songs -- the single "Wake Up," which sounds like a sweet-natured, slightly listless spin on Gwen Stefani's "Cool"; the persistent electro-pulse of "Beat of My Heart"; the lightweight Ashlee Simpson-styled rocker "Break My Heart" -- sound a bit like leftovers. While this isn't a terrible album by any means, it's not particularly a good one, since Duff's two pop albums have distinctive personalities that don't necessarily mesh together (2003's Metamorphosis is unabashed teen pop, 2004's Hilary Duff is a post-Ashlee/Avril rock makeover), and are both more fun than this. If all you're looking for is the two hits on one disc (and you don't really mind that one is remixed, not in the version that you heard on the radio), Most Wanted suits the bill. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine A collection that combines previously unreleased songs with earlier tracks and remixes, MOST WANTED serves as a thumbnail sketch of Hilary Duff's 2003-2005 recording career. The three new songs here feature the charming singer pairing up with the Dead Executives production team, resulting in the techno-tinged "Wake Up," the upbeat "Beat of My Heart," and the rocked-out "Break My Heart," which sounds like Duff fronting the Foo Fighters. The rest of the disc presents cherry-picked tracks from her hugely successful first two albums (including the guitar-heavy "Metamorphosis" and the urgent "Fly") and the soundtrack for her 2004 film A CINDERELLA STORY, most notably an energetic rendition of the Go-Go's' "Our Lips Are Sealed." While the remixes don't depart much from the originals, they do give the tunes an added punch and make Duff's assertive and amiable vocals even more prominent. For those unfamiliar with Duff's undeniably catchy pop/rock sound, this is an excellent sampler of her best songs. Hilary Duff Most Wanted Songs | 1. | Wake Up |

Most Wanted
$17.57 Deluxe Edition
Personnel: Tom Araya (vocals); Jeff Hanneman, Kerry King (guitar); Dave Lombardo (drums). Audio Mixer: Greg Fidelman. Editor: Dan Monti. Photographer: Andrew Stewart. Of the "big four" original thrash bands (the other three being Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth), Slayer was the least compromising and most consistent. As such, 2009's WORLD PAINTED BLOOD recalled more than the title of Slayer's 1986 masterpiece REIGN IN BLOOD; it shared the earlier album's ferocious aggression and trademark speed metal-meets-hardcore sound. Throughout, the sound is lean and mean, with bassist/vocalist Tom Araya's vocals mixed relatively ...

Most Wanted
$7.79 Includes liner notes by Kevin Phinney. Digitally remastered by Bill Inglot & Dan Hersch. Personnel: Otis Redding (vocals); Carla Thomas (vocals). Liner Note Author: Kevin Phinney. The Very Best of Otis Redding wasn't the first Otis Redding compilation but it is the best of the single-disc collections, distilling the high points across his career (up thru the posthumous hits "(Sitting' On) The Dock of the Bay" and the heartbreaking "I've Got Dreams to Remember") in 16 tracks, every one a musical milestone and a soul music high-point of one kind or another. Although aimed at the casual listener and the neophyte fan, there are some astonishing realizations to be had in listening to this disc and looking at the chart placements ...

Additional personnel: Mark Feltham (harmonica). Personnel: Justin Sullivan (vocals, guitar, harmonica, keyboards); Dean White (guitar); Mark Feltham (harmonica). Photographer: Joolz. Like its seven studio predecessors, the self-produced Eight is a gripping album that can seriously alter anyone's passive attitudes towards music -- so much so that the extra effort to obtain it seems ridiculous. Eight is a bit of a curve ball after Hopeless Causes and 1998's equally strident Strange Brotherhood, with edgy acoustics and slithering harmonica providing a confrontational temperament right from the ...

| | Taj Mahal Take A Giant Step CD (2005)
Most Wanted
$6.29 This compilation is simply misnamed. A best-of Taj Mahal would (or at least should) signify a career spanning collection. These ten tracks are haphazardly collected from Mahal's years with the BMG affiliated Private Music label between 1991 and 1996. This is not to say there isn't fine music here, but some of these versions, such as the opener "Take a Giant Step," come not from the classic Columbia album of the same name, but from Like Never Before, issued in 1991. An additional slight is that none of the cuts here are ...
| | Lucero Rebels, Rogues & Sworn Brothers CD (2006)
Most Wanted
$11.59 Lucero: Ben Nichols (vocals, guitar); Brian Venable (guitar); John C. Stubblefield (bass instrument); Roy Berry (drums, percussion). For REBELS, ROGUES & SWORN BROTHERS, their last album on their own Liberty & Lament Records, Memphis's Lucero deliver the kind of blood, sweat, and tears that have made them '00s roots rock darlings, road monsters, and signees to Universal Music Group. This kind of ragged-heart-on-the-sleeve alt.country/Southern rock lives or dies on the realness of its soul, and Lucero offer a walk-it-like-they-talk-it urgency to be reckoned with across the album's 12 tracks. On stand-outs like the rousing Springsteenesque opener "What Else Would You Have Me Be?" and the shattering "On the Way Back Home," Ben Nichols employs the obligatory whiskey references but inhabits each potentially cliched phrase as if he'd be joining the army or eternally tending bar in some dive (like the characters in his songs and, presumably, his friends back home) if his performances don't fly. Thankfully--via painfully threadbare vocals--they do. With the quartet's thick guitars framed by cathartic piano and melancholic accordion runs (courtesy of supplementary multi-instrumentalist Rick Steff), REBELS is a triumph of workmanlike grit to be filed next to Bob Seger, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Pogues. Lucero have never been short on Replacements comparisons, which are still very much valid on Rebels, Rogues & Sworn Brothers, but this time around they come off more like the Memphis version of Bruce Springsteen -- in the best possible way. This comparison is heard straightaway in the opening "What Else Would You Have Me Be?," and the subsequent music largely continues its loose and jangly feel, many songs rocking out in the tradition of those on 2005's Nobody's Darlings. However, thanks to the contributions of auxiliary player Rick Steff on nearly every track -- switching between organs, accordion, and piano -- the overall record sounds fuller and is more immediate than much of Lucero's past work. These extra touches cause rousing songs like the shimmering "I Can Get Us Out of Here" to be ...
| | Adult Why Bother? CD (2007)
Most Wanted
$12.95 Personnel: J. Carson Gray (guitar, accordion). Audio Mixers: Jessica Ruffins; Bill Skibbe. Recording information: The Key Club. Photographer: Nicola Kuperus. With indie rock acts defecting en masse to the glittery arpeggiated pastures of dance-punk and electro, few bands have taken the opposite course from synth pop to punk rock. The duo of Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller--better known as Adult--have evolved from the crystalline electro sounds of their earlier work, to the strident, malevolent punk of their latest outing WHY BOTHER? Bristling with harsh, virulent rhythms and dissonant electronics, the music's grinding industrial bombast frames Kuperus's baleful caterwauling--a harrowing, sometimes frightful shriek that commands the songs with a rabid intensity. On the rancorous "Inclined To Vomit" Kuperus spits ...
