Central Park Summerstage: Live From The Heart Of The City CD music
$13.69 For reggae fans, the 2000s will go down in history as a decade in which dancehall toasting and reggae singing often went hand-in-hand in much the same way that hip-hop and R&B went hand-in-hand. Dancehall toasters incorporated reggae singing throughout the 2000s, and reggae singers (especially ...

Central Park Summerstage: Live From The Heart Of The City songs
$12.39 Rather than showcasing tunes by her hero Bob Marley, O'Connor opts to cover songs by his renowned peers Lee "Scratch" Perry and Peter Tosh, as well as a handful of tracks by Burning Spear, going for an authentic Jamaican vibe by recording in the island's iconic Tuff Gong studios. Sly & Robbie's backing is as proficient and propulsive as ever, creating a thoroughly organic atmosphere that O'Connor revels in, particularly on Burning Spear's fierce "Marcus Garvey" ...

Central Park Summerstage: Live From The Heart Of The City CD music
$6.25 After spending 12 years as a member of Bob Marley's Wailers, Peter Tosh was eager to break free from the shadow of the legendary frontman. In 1976, he released LEGALIZE IT, still one of the most significant albums in the history of reggae. The title track expresses one of Tosh's many political causes, justifying the legalization of marijuana as a remedy for various medical ailments. "Burial" is one of several tracks that features the talents of the Wailers' stand-out lead guitarist, Al Anderson.
Tosh adds his own seasoning to the reggae pot as he incorporates keyboards in "Whatcha Gonna Do" and synthesizers and sound effects on "Igziabeher." "Ketchy Shuby," a sing-along about fooling around, features the background vocal talents of Rita Marley, Bunny Wailer, ...

Central Park Summerstage: Live From The Heart Of The City music CDs
$11.85 Once you've been an avid music lover for several decades, it becomes a pretty rare thing to stumble across a group whose sound is so original, it's difficult to play the usual game of name-that-influence. This Boston-based band has regrettably been saddled with the emo tag, but their intricately constructed sound incorporates elements of genres ranging from metal and electronica to punk and prog, resulting in an engaging aural assault that is uniquely their own. On their stunning debut album, producer Matt Squire (Northstar, Thrice) does an impressive job of capturing the quintet's three-pronged guitar attack, with a crisp, clean mix that ensures not a single detail goes unnoticed. Which is pretty remarkable when you consider the vast cornucopia of sounds here, which include everything from hammer-of-the-gods drumbeats and spacey synth breaks to artfully arranged segments in which three vocalists sing different lyrics in harmony. Fans of prog metal bands such as Tool and Coheed & Cambria will likely be the quickest to fall for ...
