$14.30 Rush is no stranger to best-of compilation albums, they've released a slew of them. They are also no stranger to DVDs. To mark their 35th anniversary, they've released Working Men, which is both; it marks their first best-of live compilation exclusively from the DVD sets Rush in Rio (2003), R30 (2005), and Snakes & Arrows Live (2008). There is also an unreleased cut from R30 -- a killer version of One Little Victory. While fans may simply regard this as a record company cash grab, hardcore fans know how closely Rush monitors each release and controls all aspects of their career. On hearing these tracks without benefit of the visuals, it becomes lucidly clear that in the 21st century, Rush plays more like a hungry act looking to prove themselves rather than as seasoned veterans jaded by the entire business. The instrumental interaction between Neal Peart, Alex ...

It's no secret that one of the most powerful weapons in Zappa's arsenal was his sense of humor, which was at its height in live performance. Consequently, there's no better way to ...

Memory Overdose music CDs
$16.39 Right from the opening charge of sludge guitars and big-ass drums, it's clear that the Backyard Babies aren't there to mess around -- and they don't. The foursome sounds like they're blowing up the studio as much as recording in it, and while it's clear that Dregen's Hellacopters participation means that the two groups have a related sound, the Babies sound a little more glam/punk and a little less MC5/Stones. There's at least one Ramones shirt on display in the band photos, but there's easy echoes of the Damned and classic sing/shout-along acts like Die Toten Hosen, among many others. Only just, though, even if the Babies' general look is pretty damn enjoyably trashy in comparison to the other band's cowboy hats and belt buckles (Nicke Borg's back cover pose and purple Naugahyde jacket is plain brilliant). Like many of the Scandinavian garage ...
| | New Gospelites Everyday Is Sunday, The Heritage Of A Cappella Gospel CD (2003)
Memory Overdose songs
$15.95 The New Gospelites celebrated 30 years of service in performing Gospel Music on September 14th, 2003. The group originated in 1973, from the kitchen of the same house where most of the original members grew up; in the small town of Worton Point on the upper eastern shore of Kent County, Maryland. The original members were Lavinia Hynson, contralto (1 yr.), Gloria Jean Hynson Johnson, soprano (24 yrs.), Irene's daughter, Joan Wilson McGowan, alto (5 yrs.). Peggy Wilson Blake, 2nd soprano, served till her death in December 1998. Franklin Hynson, tenor. James Phillips, bass. Irene Wilson Moore, alto; and group president. The New Gospelites did not begin as an a cappella ensemble. Within the first year they took on guitarist, Darlene Washington of Philadelphia, PA. Washington being a female guitarist was quite unique, and her talent was equally as captivating, she remained with the group for one year. They dedicated their services as a choir to traveling ministers throughout the 1980's to mid 90's. That took them all around Delaware and back to Maryland: to name a few road partners, the Rev. Reuben Freeman of Chippy Chapel, Hockessin, DE., Rev. William Johnson of A.U.M.P St. Pauls of Wilmington, DE. They also traveled with Rev. Anthony Brown while he was serving at the Centennial United Methodist Church, Smyrna, DE. Rev. Brown is currently the presiding pastor of their home church St. George U. M. in Worton Point, where they are all members. In 1987, Hester Hynson Newnam joined the group, she sang alto and was also a family member. Singing a cappella did not necessary become a preference until they perfected it, they say. Not until their own unique sound began to set like grandma's preserves. Then you don't want accompaniment because it changes ...
