| | Journey Generations CD - Import Journey Discography of CDs
2005 album includes one bonus track. First pressing comes with a sticker.
From their fledgling fusion records to blockbuster stadium AOR, Journey has weathered musical trends as well as the scorn of fickle music critics. It is apropos that in 2005, GENERATIONS marks the band's 30th year. Since joining in 1998, lead vocalist Steve Augeri has risen to the challenge of filling Steve Perry's shoes. The Brooklyn native puts his own unique stamp on the group's sound while still honoring the Journey tradition, best evidenced on "Faith In The Heartland" and "The Place In Your Heart."
GENERATIONS presents songs sung by each member, with keyboardist Jonathan Cain tackling the title track. Bassist Ross Valory sneers through the blazing Texas boogie of "Gone Crazy," while Neal Schon offers up "In Self-Defense." Most surprising is drummer Deen Castronovo, whose voice on "A Better Life" and "Never Too Late" is a near dead-ringer for a young Steve Perry.
Japanese pressing of Journey's 2005 album will include an exclusive bonus track 'It's Never Too Late'. Nexus. 2005. | | Muddy Waters Folk Singer CD (1964) Remastered
Generations CD music
$8.49 Ultradiscs are mastered from the original master tapes using Mobile Fidelity's proprietary mastering technique, then plated with 24-karat gold and housed in a stress-resistant lift-lock jewel box.
"You Can't Lose What You Ain't Never Had" and "The Same Thing" did not appear on the original version of FOLK SINGER. They were recorded at a separate session in April 1964, three months after FOLK SINGER was released.
The title and cover photo of this 1963 recording were an attempt to cash in on the burgeoning American folk revival, but this is pure acoustic blues. Muddy began his career as a Robert Johnson-style solo acoustic performer, and the tunes on FOLK SINGER hark back to those days. He's accompanied sparsely by Willie Dixon, drummer Clifton James and a young Buddy Guy, who provide a stark, deliberate backdrop for Muddy's rich vocal and expressive bottleneck guitar work. The richness of Muddy's baritone is showcased effectively here, with more room than usual for his voice to resonate.
The low-key setting allows Muddy to explore a fuller dynamic ...

It will always be a mystery how a grown man can spend his life wearing a school tie and short pants and receive adulation from the heavy metal fraternity. HM followers do not tolerate a cissy, yet the hugely talented Angus Young has become something of a hero. His riff-laden fills, combined with the tough vocals of the late Bon Scott, made AC/DC one of the genre's all-time leading lights. Bordering on the lighter side of metal, songs such as 'Love Hungry ...
| | Philipp Fankhauser Talk To Me CD (2004)
Generations songs
$12.65 Talk To Me is the title of the latest album from Philipp Fankhauser, the highly regarded blues artist based in Thun, Switzerland, and his first for Memphis International Records. Fankhauser is well known to European audiences but he is also familiar to North Americans as a result of his role as guest vocalist with the band of the late blues great Johnny "Clyde" Copeland. While the bulk of Talk To Me is comprised of l Fankhauser originals it does include two Johnny Copeland compositions and Shemekia Copeland, Johnny's daughter and a renowned star in her own right, penned the liner notes. "Philipp will always be very special to the Copeland family; his music is special for just about everyone," she wrote. The album includes a version of "Members Only," a song that was an R&B hit for Bobby Bland in the 1980s and produced for Fankhauser by Dennis Walker (Robert Cray, B.B. King, Maria Muldaur) with an appearance by the Memphis Horns. Bobby Bland finally met Fankhauser in the '90s and expressed great admiration for the Swissman's interpretation of one of his signature songs.Downbeat's review of Talk To Me noted "Fankhauser doesn't sound the least ...

| | Smells Like Bleach: A Punk Tribute To Nirvana CD (2000)
Generations music CDs
$13.95 It's appropriate that the first ever Nirvana tribute album was recorded by a collection of punk bands whose combined record sales probably don't equal that of In Utero. After all, Nirvana's influences were largely D.I.Y., and the band always seemed to have a great deal more in common with Flipper than Pearl Jam. Smells Like Bleach succeeds in putting a straight-ahead punk spin on Nirvana's often more deliberate style of hardcore. Although, this album is not simply a Nirvana mix played in double time (even though most of the solos are sped up and improvised on) as one might expect. Songs like "Negative Creep" and "Scentless Apprentice" are actually played more slowly than the originals. Highlights are the hits "Smells Like Teen Spirit," which takes an instant turn from Boston to Green Day via Blanks 77 and immediately has you expecting a "Let's Go!" instead of an emotive silence, and "All Apologies," which is taken from near ballad in its original form to metal-punk ditty courtesy of DOA. Vice Squad's "Lithium," save for an interesting little percussion tweak, I.C.U's "Dive," and Dr. Know's "Aneurysm" all have the energy of great Nirvana tunes but don't stray a great mile from the original versions and in turn sound like well-intentioned but nonetheless redundant covers in the place of uncommon tributes. Even though Smells Like Bleach is not great, there is something very Nirvana about it. None of the songs are slickly produced, the pop-punkified "On a Plain" is mistakenly labeled "Serve the Servants" (which does not appear on the album), the beautiful tribute mission statement written by Dave Thompson comes from the mind of a moved fan -- not a drama-starved music journalist, and there is not a word scribed about any of the admiring bands, undoubtedly because "It's not about them." That's just the sort of process Nirvana ...
| | Maureen Christine Very Thought Of You CD (2001)
Generations songs
$12.15 This second album for Chicago cabaret singer Maureen Christine is a notable step forward from her first release, not that there was anything technically or stylistically wrong with the vocalizing on the first CD. The problem was the play list and arrangements, which were pretty much limited to sad songs done in a torpid tempo. Christine has added rays of sunshine to the repertoire of this CD, bringing a welcome balance to it. The ...

Generations music CDs
$8.09 This two-CD set documenting performances at the 2005 Warped Tour, is the third in a series (the first covered '03 and '04). The tour showcases indie bands, nearly all of whom fall into the neo-punk, pop-punk, emo, or post-hardcore categories. Labeled "Stage One" and "Stage Two," the collection gives a satisfying overview of the tour's numerous, variegated acts, a great souvenir for those who caught the show, and a fine substitute for those who missed it.
There are plenty of big names, including Irish-American punks Dropkick Murphys, catchy skate-punks Pennywise, Chicago emo outfit Fall Out Boy, and old-school CA pop-punks the Offspring (whose creepily evil "Beheaded" ...
