The often-bootlegged Graham Parker album THE OFFICIAL ART VANDELAY TAPES: LIVE ONE finds the singer-songwriter onstage in Chicago in 1988.
The ART VANDELAY TAPES (named after a SEINFELD character) are Graham Parker bootlegs made legitimate. Two other volumes exist, which are filled with a hodgepodge of rare material from over the years, but this collection instead features a Parker show recorded in Chicago in 1988 in support of the album THE MONA LISA'S SISTER. A number of tracks from that release are tackled here, along with Rumour-era Parker classics like "Howlin' Wind" and "White Honey," and Parker lends his characteristic soulful snarl to it all in commendable fashion.
2009 repressing. The beloved Live Vandelay Tapes finally sees an official release and contains what has to be one of Graham Parker's finest ever shows, recorded on Independence Day in Chicago 1988. Fourteen searing tracks of Parker's greatest material are featured on this classic concert compilation. Also included are two bonus tracks 'You Hit The Spot' and 'No More Excuses'. Lemon.
CD contains 2 bonus tracks.

$6.09 All tracks have been digitally remastered using HDCD technology.

| | Neil Young On The Beach CD (1974) Remastered
Live Vandelay CD music
$8.99 After working his way through loss and chaos on the brilliant TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT (recorded in 1973, but not released until 1975), Neil Young deftly exorcised any lingering demons with 1974's ON THE BEACH. The album opens with the saunter of the aptly titled "Walk On," followed by the utterly gorgeous, Wurlitzer-tinged "See the Sky about to Rain."
The ...

Live Vandelay music CDs
$6.19 All tracks have been digitally remastered using HDCD technology.
Released in 1981, REACTOR was a transitional album for Neil Young, most notably in that it marked a break in his longstanding relationship with Reprise Records. But before Young left for the supposedly greener fields of Geffen, he unleashed this amped-up outing with Crazy Horse in tow. "Opera Star," with its refrain of "ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho" and unusual synthesizer backing, sets a quirky tone that's furthered by "T-Bone," a nine-minute guitar workout with lyrics comprised only of the lines "Got mashed potatoes/Ain't ...
| | Graham Parker Your Country CD (2004)
Live Vandelay songs
$12.39 Despite the implications of the title, YOUR COUNTRY is not exactly a "country" album, though it does find British-born Graham Parker respectfully acknowledging the influence of American country music. There's a higher twang quotient, as well as a slightly loping, shuffling beat, but this is just more of the same wonderful ...

| | Debbie Gibson Electric Youth CD (1989)
Live Vandelay music CDs
$5.95 Following up her enormously popular debut, Out of the Blue, Debbie Gibson sought to grow from the teen fan base she had established, while not alienating those who made her a household name. The result is slickly produced teen pop, like her debut, but it's not as squeaky clean or as compulsively likable. That is not to say it's a bad album. "Lost in Your Eyes" is a pretty ballad that showcases her songwriting skills, her clear voice, and her talent on the piano. "Electric Youth" is a bouncy, frenetic song that is ridiculously sing-alongable, but at the same it is time hard to really identify with it unless you're 12 (or at least young at heart). "We Could Be Together," in which she basically tells her friends and family to go fly a kite, is ...
