Trance Party, Vol. 5 music CDs
$7.29 From its odd, defensive title to the announcement that none of the album's videos would include the photogenic singer/songwriter, George Michael's second solo album consciously repositioned the ex-Wham! frontman as a mature artist rather than a teenybopper idol. Indeed, the video for "Freedom '90," which shares only its title with Wham's 1984 hit, features the ritual burning of Michael's trademark leather ...
| | Best Of Traffic CD (1969)
Trance Party, Vol. 5 songs
$12.79 This is the best of Traffic from the band's first three albums (their debut MR. FANTASY, the self-titled second album, and LAST EXIT). Thereafter they disbanded, only to soon reform and continue with an ever-changing line-up around mainstays Steve Winwood, Jim Capladi and Chris Wood. The period covered on this collection is truly their best work. They created some strong, lasting ...

| | Splodgenessabounds CD (1981) (Import) Import; Canada
Trance Party, Vol. 5 CD music
$17.69 First time on CD for this legendary Oi! / Punk Pathetique album which was first issued by Deram back in 1981. Now comes complete with 14 bonus tracks and rounds up all of the bands recordings in the early 80's including the hit singles "Two Pints Of Lager", "Two Little Boys" and "Cowpunk Medlum" as well as the bands contributions to "Strength Thru Oi!". Get this and get well Splodged!
A straightforward reissue of the mighty Splodge's debut album, bolstered by sufficient bonus tracks (14) to transform it into a virtual anthology of the band's entire early-'80s catalog, from the U.K. hits "Two Pints of Lager," "Two Little Boys," and "Cowpunk Medlum," through to their contributions to the legendary Strength Thru Oi! compilation album. It's a wild and riotous ride, utterly absurd but absolutely captivating -- "Michael Booth's Talking Bum" remains one of the most memorable farting songs ever unveiled, rivaled only by the wiffy-ridden sentiments of "Blown Away Like a Fart in a Thunderstorm," while such slabs of whimsy as "I Fell in Love With a Female Plumber From Harlesden NW10" and "I've Got Lots of Famous People Living Under the Floor Boards of Humble Abode" are as intriguing as their ridiculously overlong ...

What turned out to be the only full studio album the Field Mice released was also nothing less than a quietly triumphant masterpiece. Building on the strength of its string of great singles while keeping its own particular character and mood, For Keeps -- a sly and ...

| | Gravy Train All The Sweet Stuff CD (2007)
Trance Party, Vol. 5 album
$12.95 Oakland, CA's Gravy Train!!!! is an ambisexual quartet obsessed with junk food, junk culture, cheap thrills, booze, club life, fashion magazines and sleazy sex. Lead singer Chunx is a fun-loving cheerleader in gold lamé hot pants, with a vocal style that's part cheerleader, part riot grrrl and part good-natured karaoke belter who sounds slightly stoned and giddy beyond belief. Everyone in the band plays at least three instruments, including drums, bass, synth, organ, harpsichord and guitar, but it's often hard to separate out individual players in the big, muddy, new wave influenced mush that they churn out with such unbridled enthusiasm. There's funk, punk, doo wop, hip-hop, rock, disco, and glam in the mix, with traces of garage band amateurism, B- 52's, Prince, Toni Basil, Bananarama, and other late-'70s and early-'80s bands weaving in and out of the picture as well. The band's musical zeal can't be doubted, but the pastiche sounds strained and overly referential at times. Lyrically, the band specializes in juvenile songs about sex. Their slightly cartoonish delivery manages to make ditties about masturbation, lap dances and other raunchy situations sound strangely innocent, like a child talking about something she doesn't really understand. Case in point, "Solo J/O," a ...
