| | Victor Garcia Loco Por Ti CD Victor Garcia Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
There's nothing quite as catchy as the swoony teenage accordion pop leadoff single, "Loco por Ti," but a good half-dozen songs come pretty close. What's also impressive is the tastefulness of the playing and the arrangements that give the disc a rootsy, earthy core underneath the pop sheen of the mix. Garcia's technique and commitment never waver. His voice is still a little lacking in character, and for the uninitiated, he is not the most interesting thing about this disc. Still, the best tracks make a perfect soundtrack for a couple of chicas on a road trip along la Frontera. The alternate versions towards the end don't add anything to the originals, but there's still a fair amount of fun music here. ~ J. Chandler

Loco Por Ti
$6.75 Originally released on Motown Records. Includes liner notes by A. Scott Galloway.
An 11-song snapshot of the Dazz Band's Motown stint that includes the not-often-featured "To the Roof," whose origins date back to "Take It to the Woof" by Cleveland, OH-based funk band Morning Maniac led by ex-Dazz Band member Kenny Pettus who's the lead voice on the Earth, Wind and Fire-ish "I Might As Well Forget About Loving You." But other than that, there are no surprises, just straight-ahead digitally remastered Dazz Band blasts that blow you away in CD format ("Let It Whip"'s bassline is hypnotizing). For lovers, "Invitation to Love" and "Knock, Knock" are bonafide heart stirrers and the only two slow jams in the bunch. Not as complete as the 1994 Funkology: The Definitive Dazz Band but dazzling enough. ~ Andrew ...
| | Intocable Diez CDs (2005) Diez; Digipak
Loco Por Ti
$12.59 DIEZ marks the 10th anniversary of the band in an intriguing manner, presenting an album of all-new material alongside another disc of mostly older songs covered by others in a pop/rock vein. The disc by Intocable features the elevated fare fans have become accustomed to, including the sublimely beautiful sweet "Soledad (Siento Morir)" and catchy single "Aire." The bonus disc includes a breathy version of "Fuerte No Soy" by Pepe Aguilar, as well as harder-edged renditions, including Volovan's version of "Ya Ves." Overall, DIEZ is a fascinating set from one of the most unpredictable bands in the Tejano vein.
The Tejano group Intocable has lived up its name (which translates into English as "untouchable") through its ability to skillfully and seamlessly blend various musical styles into one hearty and unique concoction. ...
| | Aventura God's Project CD (2005)
Loco Por Ti
$13.85 Since its formation in the Bronx, New York in 1994, Dominican boy band Aventura has been steadily expanding its sound toward a style that incorporates hip-hop, R&B, rock, merengue, and reggaeton, while still retaining strong traces of traditional bachata. GOD'S PROJECT is the culmination of Aventura's stylistic expansion, and is the group's most mature, diverse, and accomplished album.
The sounds of bachata--the quartet's foundation--are still prominent, especially on "Ciego de Amor," which features a cameo by Antony Santos, one of the Dominican Republic's leading bachata artists (not to be confused with Aventura's own Anthony "Romeo" ...

| | Alex Ubago Fantasia O Realidad CD (2004) (Import) Canada
Loco Por Ti
$10.69 This is the follow-up album to Alex Ubago's smash debut, the one that made him a growing star in Spain and Latin America. And for certain if you loved that previous effort, then you will love this one. Alex Ubago visits all the common places for a Latin and romantic singer/songwriter: check "Allí Estaré," "Salida," and "Aunque No Te Pueda Ver." He tries to be politically correct (and concerned) in the song "Fantasía o Realidad," but the result is not very different from a collegian's essay. He's got really good intentions, and he writes his owns songs, which is more than most singers on the Latin pop scene. But of course, that's not all that counts. He needs a crazy spark to separate him from the rest. Maybe it's just a matter of time. ~ Iván Adaime
