| | Pet Shop Boys Behavior CDs (1990) Bonus Tracks; Limited Edition; Remastered
Megamix (2005 Mixes) CD music
$18.75 This Limited Edition of BEHAVIOR is packaged in a custom slipcase with a 36-page booklet, and contains a bonus disc of rare tracks.
Digitally remastered by Tim Young (Metropolis Mastering, London, England).
Behavior was a retreat from the deep dance textures of Introspective, as it picked up on the carefully constructed pop of Actually. In fact, Behavior functions as the Pet Shop Boys' bid for mainstream credibility, as much of the album relies more on popcraft than rhythmic variations. Although its a subtle maneuver, it would have been rather disastrous if the results weren't so captivating. Tennant takes this approach seriously, singing the lyrics instead of speaking them. That doesn't necessarily give the album added emotional baggage -- all of the distance and detachment in the duo's music is not a hindrance, it's part of the concept -- but it does result in an ambitious and breathtaking pop album, which manages to include everything from the spiteful "How Can You Expect to Be Taken Seriously?" to the ...

Megamix (2005 Mixes) album
$13.15 When remixing, the Pet Shop Boys make any artist sound a lot like the Pet Shop Boys, which is probably why they get the job in the first place. The fourth volume of their sporadic Disco compilation series breaks from the usual plan -- outside artists remixing Pet Shop Boys songs -- and focuses on PSB as remixers. Here they turn the Killers' "Read My Mind" into a dance anthem and Yoko Ono's "Walking on Thin Ice" into a Euro-trash track that would mix well with any given Fischerspooner song, while Madonna's "Sorry" turns into something that could have fallen off PSB's 1987 album, Actually. The only big surprise is how often singer Neil Tennant adds his own vocals to the tracks, and in the case of David Bowie's "Hallo Spaceboy" he goes as far as to add new lyrics. This Bowie remix was almost impossible to obtain before and the cuts are all mixed together to create ...

Megamix (2005 Mixes) CD music
$27.05 This 2005 U.K. double CD features 27 tracks personally selected by the duo and issued to celebrate their 20th year as recording artists.
This installment of the BACK TO MINE mix series presents a special two-disc collection by the Pet Shop Boys. Keyboardist Chris Lowe compiles the first set, which begins with tracks much in the vein of the Boys' own synth-pop, including Savage's "Don't Cry Tonight" and Mr. Flagio's "Take a Chance." As the disc progresses, the songs get more eclectic, most notably with Queen's melodramatic "The Show Must Go On" and "I'd Rather Leave While I'm in Love," a smooth closing ballad by one-time Pet Shop collaborator Dusty Springfield.
Frontman Neil Tennant's set goes even further afield, blending together ambient, electronica, classical, and pop. Fairmont's dreamy techno tune "Traum" opens the disc, followed by "Pulse Pause Repeat," ...
| | Rough Guide To Scottish Music . CD (2003) (Import) Second Ed; United Kingdom; Second Edition
Megamix (2005 Mixes) music CDs
$12.79 In an all-new second edition focusing on the music of Scotland, Pete Heywood compiled a set of completely contemporary tracks, some by established artists like the Battlefield Band and many by a new generation who have embraced the music's older traditions after having been raised on 20th century pop/rock, blues, and jazz. One thing binds them together: No matter how contemporary some of these artists are, their musical sensibilities are rooted in the past. Instrumentation may be such that Emily Smith uses a piano alongside the fiddle on the centuries-old "Fair Helen of Kirconnel," with a new melody she composed. Elsewhere, the internationally renowned ...
