Great if you're a fan of the game To start off, the movie is absolutely beautiful. The visual detail in the characters and environment are just amazing. The action scenes are a blast to watch too.
I watched the movie in english, and the voices are done pretty well. A few parts in the dialog sound a bit off, but it is nothing you wouldn't expect from any anime.
The story is pretty well done, however, I think anyone who did not play the game or never paid close attention to the story might find themselves not enjoying the movie as much as someone who did.
All in all, I feel it was well worth the money to buy, and find myself watching it over and again. Submitted by redfox1187 (San Diego, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful.
I certainly hope it's not the "Final" film from Square In Square's sophomore effort in the film industry, they have learned many lessons. The most significant lesson learned was that when you control intellectual properties as rich and established as the Final Fantasy game series, you should probably base your films around this core. That's where Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children comes in. It is what fans around the world were hoping for with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. They waited longer than expected, but the wait was definitely worth it.
Make no mistake: this is one of the most visually-stunning movies of all time. And it will likely be near the top until Square makes another one.
Finally, the story isn't as self-contained as one would hope for viewers not familiar with the Final Fantasy VII storyline. But, it can still stand on its own and it does a decent job of developing the backstory through interesting dialogue and narration.
Last but not least, the voiceovers are near-perfect. Fear not: Steve Buscemi does not make an appearance. In other words, if you were one of the many fans who had trouble picturing a different face on Steve Buscemi with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, you can rest assured that the cast was carefully selected, which means one of its true assets is its lack of star-studded status. A must have for any age This movie was great!!!! The Fighting scenes are excellent, the storyline continues from where the game left off, and they couldnt pick better people for the voiceovers. They reunite all the characters from the game into the movie, grab your attention right from the begining and keep it to the very end. I was very satisfied with the movie and would recommend it to anyone. I believe it was worth every penny. Submitted by Buddhasfanx (FT. Laud, FL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
