Concentrating on volumes four through seven in the M Records series, Maurizio collects edits of seven tracks, adding one original 12" mix and one unreleased mix. Each of the nine tracks layer heavy dub effects and synthwork over midtempo house rhythms with plenty of echo and reverb. Besides its necessity for collectors due to the unreleased track, the disc is also the best place to start for those unable or unwilling to use a turntable. Given the fact that the originals are so long and basically unchanging, the edits occasionally work better than the originals, although they aren't the versions that a vinyl-phile like Maurizio necessarily wanted listeners to hear. ~ John Bush Maurizio Songs | 1. | M06b |

Maurizio
$16.25 Chilean-German DJ/producer Ricardo Villalobos is the embodiment of the global electronic music culture. A tireless champion of minimal techno and microhouse, his productions display as much affinity for the syncopated polyrhythms of Latin music as for the grinding repetitions of machine-driven beats. For his contribution to the mix-CD series, FABRIC, Villalobos opted to retrofit his own productions, creating a heady, multi-layered cross section of clipped 4/4 rhythms, hypnotic synths, and trippy samples. Drawing upon original material as well as collaborations with Jorge Gonzales, Patrick Ense, and Fumiya Tanaka, FABRIC 36 seeks to bridge the disparate environments of home listening and club hedonism in one continuous, engrossing mix. | | Roky Erickson Hide Behind The Sun CD (2000) (Import) Australia
Maurizio
$15.55 Roky Erickson was the voice of the Thirteenth Floor Elevators. The band made a huge impact on the blues scene of Austin, Texas and will always be remembered as one of the true Texas pioneers.
Recorded in California in 1976 and in Roky Erickson's home in 1984. Includes liner notes by Sherri Fauver. This is part of the 13th Floor Elevators Music Series. The spate of cynical cash-in recordings from the "lookit the weird crazy guy who believes in demons" '80s having at least temporarily dried up, the trend in Roky Erickson bootlegs from the turn of the millennium was in audience tapes from the 13th Floor Elevators days and before. Hide Behind the Sun, from 2000, combines the crassest aspects of both in one miserable, barrel-scraping release. First comes the false advertising of the circa-1966 cover photo, suggesting that these 1976 and 1984 tapes are of an older vintage (along with the highly dubious "authorized bootleg" claim on the cover, unlikely considering that these tapes have been making the Erickson fan circuit ever since they were recorded). The contents are what's commonly known as the "Roky's Living Room" tape from 1984 and the "California Coffeehouse" tape from 1976. The 1984 tracks (tracks one through nine) are acoustic covers of '60s folk-pop hits, including two each by Bob Dylan and Donovan and a lugubrious take on the coffeehouse favorite "Baby Let Me Follow You Down," which Erickson had played as far back as the Elevators days. The slightly more interesting 1976 recordings (tracks 10 through 15) include a smattering of originals, from the Elevators classics "Splash 1" and "I"m Gonna Free Her" to the new tunes "Hide Behind ...

$14.09 Webb Wilder And The Beatnecks: Webb Wilder (vocals, guitar); Donnie "The Twangler" Roberts (guitar, background vocals); Denny "Cletus" Blakely (bass, background vocals); Jimmy Lester (drums); The Ionizer (drums, guitar, background vocals). Additional personnel: Jim Liban (harmonica); Wally Wilson (piano); Carson Whitsett (Hammond organ); Billy Prince (bass). Engineers include: Johnny Rosen, Billy Prince, Joe Wilson. Live tracks recorded at the Exit Inn, Nashville, Tennessee on March 14, 1986. Includes 4 bonus tracks. Webb Wilder: Webb Wilder; Denny "Cletus" Blakely (guitar, bass guitar, background vocals); Donny "The Twangler" Roberts (guitar, background vocals); Jimmy Lester. Personnel: Webb Wilder (vocals, guitar); The Ionizer (vocals, guitar, drums); Jim Liban (harmonica); Wally Wilson (piano); Billy Prince (bass guitar); Jimmy Lester (drums). Liner Note Authors: Webb Wilder; The Ionizer; Michael Rothschild. Recording information: Austin, TX; Nashville, TN; The Exit Inn, Nashville, TN. Photographers: R.S. Field; Flournoy Holmes. True to the album's title, it has been eight years since the last platter of original material from Webb Wilder. Although this disc -- his sixth since 1989 -- isn't worth a wait of that length, it is a terrific addition to the rather meager Wilder catalog. Produced by longtime cohort R.S. Field, who also pens nearly half of the tracks, Wilder utilizes his deep baritone voice and edgy twang band to energize '50s rockers, ...

| | Vibrant Green CD (2001)
Maurizio
$9.59 This cd was recorded in "98", even today I still enjoy listening to it - Stephen- singer/guitarist Vibrant GreenHi, my name is Jonny. I am Vibrant Green's drummer. My two brothers and I have been playing together as "Vibrant Green" for about six years. Our main goals are to release as many CD's as possible and we would really like to begin touring. "Vibrant Green" is: Stephen Tunnell: age twenty-four, vocals, guitar and keyboards. Joah Tunnell: age seventeen, bass, keyboards, and vocals. Jonny Tunnell: age nineteen, drums and sometimes sings. Our current band status is this: Stephen, Joah, and I live near Chapel Hill, NC. Writing, working, and "puttin' out the vibe". Describing our music has always been a difficult thing to do because we create whatever we feel like making. We have a lot of influences, like: U2, RUSH, Radiohead, Beck, Weezer, Boston, and many more. We have been compared to: U2, the Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, Weezer, and even The Doors. We have about 50 original songs and last winter completed a nine track CD. We used our Roland 1680 to record at home because of the comfort and the freedom to do what we thought should be done regardless of how long it took. If you would like to learn more about us, please read on. We come from the coast of North Carolina. There were not very many places for a band like us to play, but we played everywhere we could: our uncle's ice cream shop, the local bar, and the small town festivals. Since the kids around there didn't care much for original music, getting any kind of a fan base was almost impossible. It was also hard to find places that our Dad was into us playing (mainly due to Joah and I being of a tender age at the time). We're not going to college, nosiree, even if "Vibrant Green" never get's heard globally we plan to be in music for another ten to fifteen years. Stephen has been playing guitar ever since he received his first guitar for Christmas when ...
