Director Christopher Hampton
An extraordinary story of love, compassion, and danger, this film is the political thriller about one family who had the courage to fight for justice in a country ruled by fear. Antonio Banderas and Emma Thompson star.

Set in the magical backdrop of Buenes Aires, Argentina, IMAGINING ARGENTINA features an all-star cast that includes sultry Latin lover Antonio Banderas and esteemed British actress Emma Thompson. Adapted from the acclaimed novel by Lawrence Thornton, the narrative follows theatre director Carlos (Banderas) and his journalist wife Cecilia (Thompson) as they navigate the war-ridden country of the 1970s. When Cecilia is kidnapped by the military junta in power for writing oppositional pieces about their government, Carlos becomes plagued by "visions" of his imprisoned wife and other dissidents who have "disappeared." A daring mixture of luscious magical realism and political commentary, IMAGINING ARGENTINA premiered at the world-renowned Venice Film Festival to great acclaim.

Director Rudolph Maté dramatizes the pioneering adventures of two of America's greatest explorers in the stirring 1950s Western THE FAR HORIZONS. This well-made thriller harkens back to the gritty crime films of the 1970s. Bruce Willis plays Jeff Talley, a traumatized ex-LAPD hostage negotiator whose new career as small town sheriff doesn't turn out to be as restful as he had hoped; a hostage situation breaks out on "low crime Tuesday" and he is thrown right back into the business he knows all too well. Some punk kids have shot a cop and are holed up in a local mansion inhabited by crooked accountant Walter Smith (Kevin Pollak), his two kids, and a lot of surveillance cameras. Walter's young son (Jimmy Bennett) escapes his bonds and reports to Talley from the air shafts via his sister's cell phone. The sister--a Goth teen played by Michelle Horn--draws the romantic attention of Mars (Ben Foster), the pot-addled sociopath in the gang, thus adding a unique twist to the damsel-in-distress factor. Meanwhile, amid the buzzing helicopters and mobilizing S.W.A.T. teams, another group of bad guys has kidnapped Talley's wife and daughter, in order to force him to ...

With CURSED, screenwriter Kevin Williamson and director Wes Craven (SCREAM) take another playful trip to the dark side. This time around, their sights are set on one of the horror genre's most popular subjects: werewolves. Set in an ultra-hip modern Los Angeles, the film tells the tale of siblings Ellie (Christina Ricci) and Jimmy (Jesse Eisenberg), who have yet to fully come to terms with the loss of their parents. Ellie works at "The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn" and dates ladies' man Jake (Joshua Jackson), while Jimmy is a less-than-popular high school student with a crush on the prettiest girl in school (Kristina Anapau). But one night, after Ellie and Jimmy get into a car accident on Mulholland Drive, they are bitten by what appears to be a bona fide werewolf. Soon, both brother and sister are exhibiting behavior that can only mean one thing--that they, too, have been cursed. A troubled production ...

ARLINGTON ROAD meets REAR WINDOW in this paranoia-fueled thriller starring Kate Walsh, Steven Weber, and Eriq La Salle. The suburban neighborhood in INSIDE OUT seems like an ideal place to make a home, but the arrival of a mysterious psychiatrist (La Salle, ER) makes one of the residents nervous. The doctor is a standoffish addition to the close-knit community, but Norman (Weber) grows suspicious when he sees the new neighbor dragging what appears to be a dead body. Norman soon realizes that the corpse may be only the beginning of problems for the neighborhood. On an idyllic cul-de-sac in a California suburb, ...

On television, the kings of absurdist comedy gave logic a much-appreciated drubbing with Spam, dead parrots, and anything else they could get their grubby little hands on. Did anyone really think the world of cinema would get much of a reprieve? False prophets, exploding restaurant patrons, and voracious man-eating bunnies are among the ingenious non sequiturs littering this trio of classics. The vignette-styled, life-cycle-themed MEANING OF LIFE, and especially the single-narrative (if zanily tangential) LIFE OF BRIAN and MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL are universally considered to be among ...
