Aeon-Aony CD music
$14.05 When members of very different sounding bands get together for an all-star project, one is never sure what to expect. The members of Scum have belonged to bands ranging from Emperor (guitarist Samoth and drummer Faust) to Turbonegro (bassist Happy Tom) to Amen (lead singer Casey Chaos) to Mindgrinder (guitarist Cosmocrator). Talk about a diverse lineup! Emperor is the essence of black metal, while Turbonegro is a delightfully trashy, decadent party band whose influences have ranged from Iggy Pop to Alice Cooper to Kiss. And ...

| | Enslaved Ruun CD (2006)
Aeon-Aony album
$13.59 Considering how vehemently punk and progressive rock audiences detested each other back in the late '70s, it is truly ironic that the prog rock element has become so strong in melodic death metal and symphonic black metal. The death metal/black metal field, after all, wouldn't have existed were it not for punk; black metal came out of death metal, which came out of thrash (the first true fusion of metal and punk). But then, dogma and sectarianism are things that intelligent musicians ultimately reject, which is why a symphonic black metal jewel like Ruun can be influenced by Pink Floyd (among many others) even though black metal's overall debt to punk remains undeniable (for that matter, very little post-'80s metal doesn't have some type of punk influence). There are some black metal purists who would argue that Enslaved's Ruun, like their Isa album, is too mindful of mainstream tastes, that the strong power metal and prog rock influence one hears on this 46-minute disc is an example of black metal being watered down and diluted. But what is watered down to one person is expansive and broad-minded to another, and ...

Aeon-Aony songs
$15.19 Austin, TX seems to be the breeding ground for some of the most talented musicians. Damesviolet has taken Texas by storm and has developed into one of the premier up and coming bands of the state. All in their early 20's, the band's musicianship and maturity take them to another plateau. They have gained the respect of the Texas music community having shared the stage with the likes of The Black Crowes, Blues Traveler, Lit, Dishwalla, Blue October, Bush, Days of the New, Edwin McCain, Avril Lavigne, and many more. Damesviolet began in October of 97' when brothers Beaux and Zak Loy, having recently moved to Austin from their hometown of Dinero, TX went into the studio to cut demos with producer Mark Hallman. Shortly after the brothers teamed up with long time friend Evan Huston and shortly thereafter, Austin native Tommy Roalson to complete the bands lineup. Nonstop rehearsing paid off for the band, landing them gigs at many of Austin's top venues including the Austin Music Hall and LaZona Rosa. After hearing the band once, Artist Manager Mark Proct (Jimmie Vaughan, The ARC Angels, Storyville, Vallejo) became an instant fan taking the band under his management wing. Soon after meeting Proct and performing in SXSW 2001, the band headed back into the studio with producer Carl Thiel (Lisa Tingle, Bob Schneider, Monty Montgomery) of Austin, TX. The original intention was to record a three song demo but the chemistry in the studio was working so well that the band completed ten songs and instead decided to release a full length CD. Damesviolet also landed SXSW 2002 & 2003 showcases. Their first record sold over 3,000 copies and gained them radio play on local stations such as KLBJ, The Mix, and 101X. In February 2004 Damesviolet teamed up with producer John Ryan (Santana, STYX, Wil Seabrook ...
