| | Christian Kleine Valis CD Christian Kleine Discography of CDs
Along with Jonas Munk and Ulrich Schnauss, Christian Kleine is one of the most talented producers of the Morr Music/City Centre Offices axis of German IDM pop, and Valis sees him jumping ship from City Centre to Morr for another set of nippy electronica. While Kleine's productions are rich with ornate qualities like bright melodies, busy beats and breaks, and crystalline effects, many of them still remain subdued enough that they can drift into the background without much notice. "Red Norvo" is the unassuming highlight of the disc. Hardly having anything to do with the late vibes player that it's named after, one wonders why Kleine wasn't compelled to title the lovely song "Section 25" or "The Durutti Column"; perfectly placed semi-spirals of guitar and subdued keyboard tones shift above a placid, plaintive beat, bringing to mind any number of pre-Madchester Factory artists. Kleine's increased use of guitar and bass is a step in the right direction, but there are moments where his graceful nuances are forsaken in favor of harsh beats that make the overall effect of this record seem more cluttered than broad. ~ Andy Kellman Christian Kleine Valis Songs | 1. | Boon |

An intense surge of post-hardcore, the long-awaited follow-up to On the Might Of Princes' successful Where You Are and Where You Want to Be is more exploratory, but just as dynamic and emotional. The Long Island quartet focuses less on singalong, quiet-then-loud personal anthems, and more on developing their complex arrangements and fierce delivery. Produced with Garrison's Ethan Dussault in ten days, it's also the first time all four members collaborated on just about every song. They go from roaring cascades to interweaving breakdowns, always with plenty of harmonic guitar ...

For years now, it seems the jazz category has been the object of a hostile takeover by the music conglomerates, who fill the airwaves with a steady stream of overproduced easy listening music from a succession of pop and cabaret singers, conveniently recast to fit the stereotype of the jazz singer. But the resulting music rings hollow to our ears, lacking the depth, conviction, and finesse of the real thing.Enter Sasha Dobson. As the daughter of two of the San Francisco Bay area's most notable jazz musicians, the late pianist Smith Dobson and singer Gail Dobson, Sasha has understood jazz as a way of life since day one. As a consequence, she doesn't just sing; she can really play.Sasha arrived on the Smalls scene about five years ago, at first singing during late-night sessions. Over the years, vocalists by the score came around to Smalls to develop their craft on such sessions. As with any instrumentalist, those with a special gift were extremely rare. But Sasha, sounding like a great horn player you never knew but wish you had, stopped cats dead in their tracks. It wasn't long before she caught the ear of multi-talented arranger/composer/saxophonist Chris Byars of Smalls tenure, who hired her to sing in front of The Chris Byars Octet, then appearing regularly at Smalls and Fat Cat. Chris, an arranger who keenly recognizes the connection between an artist's life and her music, wrote a book of arrangements over the course of a year as a subtle response to events in Sasha's life during that time. The resulting ...

$12.65 Mz.Trinity is one of the most lyrical hard-edged female MC to hit the scene today. With her catchy phrases, outstanding word play and hardcore attitude, she most defiantly can hold her own on the mic. Mz.Trinity was born Chemeika Spencer in Houston, Tx in 1982, and started rapping at age 10. Straight out of Elementary School she began rapping on 97.9 The Box 5:30pm Roll Call on Madd Hatta’s afternoon show. The “Roll Call” was were people could call in and display their skills live on the air. Becoming a regular on the “Roll Call”, she had a chance to be heard and develop her skills battling other callers live on air. Before she knew it she was battling MC’s in contests and just for the love of it. After graduating High School in 2000 she slowly stopped rapping on the “Roll Call”. Not knowing what was in store for her future, she decided to attend The University of Houston Downtown for a Communication Degree. However, little did she know that would be the places were she would meet T. Farris, A&R of Swisha House Entertainment. They knew each other from Middle School and High School but never really talked about music until they crossed paths again in college. Soon T. Farris introduce her to G-Dash, co-owner of Swisha House Entertainment and after meeting him she had a chance to feature on Choppin’em Up 6, ...
