| Superheroes Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) What Are You Waiting For? O.K., I know some people don't like E.P.s, but trust me this is one you don't want to miss. Sammet and Edguy seem to really be finding there place amongst the over crowded genre of Power Metal. I know some people are going to rip on the lyrics, but you know what, lighten up. There isn't enough bands out there like Edguy who take there musicianship and songwriting very seriously, and there lyrics well...not so seriously. 'Superheros' is a amazing song with a amazingly catchy chorus, deffinately a fine choice for the albums single. The E.P. doesn't loose any momentum until the cover song 'The Spirit,' which is well done, but could have been avoided. There is even a guest vocal appearance by none other than Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween) on 'Judas At The Opera.' If you miss the days of quality song writing and want chorus' that will get stuck in your head for days, then pick this up. My anticipation is high for the upcomming 'Rocket Ride.' They are Superheroes!! As usual, Edguy have produced another ripping song, in fact this whole EP is brilliant. I can't see how anyone could not tap their foot to Edguy, they write such catchy songs with driving riffs, if only their songs would make the Top 20 here in Australia.....well, at least they do actually tour here. Final Chapter in the History of Music Nothing can go further, the perfection is reached. Submitted by Wagner (Moon) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great The first two songs are awesome with great chorus and guitars. The third song is satisfactory. The last two songs are unimpressive. Its is up to you to decide about the fourth song. If you like the band and have heard some of their songs before you should definitely buy this. Submitted by Nat (Houston TX) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 1 found this helpful.

Superheroes songs
$14.05 It's easy to belittle power metal bands because they often marry portentous musical ambitions with hackneyed Manowar-like posturing that only a 12-year-old could possibly buy into; Germany's Edguy, however, are clever enough to flip those tables by making it evident that they don't take themselves all that seriously. Eight albums into the quintet's career, Edguy have in many ways succeeded where genre daddies Helloween first bit the dust -- injecting ample doses of fun, on-stage glam-metal gymnastics, Scorpions-like face pulling, and unselfconscious humor into what is normally an outwardly austere musical style, and 2006's Rocket Ride is no exception. Possibly validated even further by the recent emergence of Britain's the Darkness, this album's relaxed vibe begins with its silly-aliens-on-crack cover art and culminates in a clutch of amusing ditties about pulling birds ("Catch of the Century"), portly lovers ("Out of Vogue," "Trinidad"), and superheroes (err, "Superheroes"). On their way there, Edguy deliver a surprisingly catchy set of hard rockers ("Wasted Time," "Matrix") and unexaggerated ballads ("The Asylum," "Save Me,"), while rarely relying on power metal's primary and overly abused melodic thrash template (the title track, "Return to the Tribe"). Even the ...
| | Iron Maiden - Death On The Road DVDs (2003)
Superheroes album
$14.49 Iron Maiden's live album DEATH ON THE ROAD captured the heavy-metal legends at a stop on their 2003 tour, which promoted both that year's DANCE OF DEATH and the best-of collection EDWARD THE GREAT. Recorded at the Westfalenhalle Arena in Dortmund, Germany, this concert film presents DEATH ON THE ROAD in visual form, with Maiden tearing through newer fare from DANCE OF DEATH as well as older classics like "Can I Play with Madness" and "The Trooper" for a potent showcase of singer Bruce Dickinson's soaring vocals and the band's trademark three-guitar assault.
This 3 DVD package is the companion to the double ...
| | Avantasia Scarecrow CD (2008)
Superheroes CD music
$12.75 A deceptively full-bodied solo project, Avantasia is the brainchild of German heavy-metal composer Tobias Sammet of Edguy. Given that he's referred to as a "composer", it should come as no surprise that Sammet's latest is a fusion of classical bombast and wailing power metal. While songs such as "Another Angel Down" are recognizable as straight up headbanging fodder, the title track personifies Sammet's ambitions with eleven minutes of rustic folk violin and crashing symphonic grandeur. Sammet's SCARECROW is ...
| | Howard McGhee Trumpet At Tempo CD (1996)
Superheroes music CDs
$14.29 While the critical jury is still out on his overall contribution to the form, the indisputable fact remains that until the arrival of Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker in California, Howard McGhee was the West Coast trail-blazing bebopper in residence. These early sides show him in top form, straddling a bridge between Roy Eldridge and the new sound that was in the wind. Kicking off with a four-side 1945 date for Philo/Aladdin, Howard's bravura tone is well represented and his stratospheric runs on "Mop Mop" sit comfortably alongside his more reflective work on "Stardust." McGhee was also the trumpeter on the ill-fated "Bird" session that produced "Lover Man." After Parker left the studio, McGhee jammed two tunes with the remaining personnel, "Thermodynamics" and the title cut, his inspired improvisation on the chord changes to "Indiana." The first actual Dial label date with Howard as leader featured Dodo Marmarosa on piano, producing four classics of the idiom: "Midnight at Minton's," "High Wind in Hollywood," "Dialated Pupils," and "Up in Dodo's Room," alternates of which can be found on the companion Dodo Marmarosa collection, Up in Dodo's Room. But the bop mother lode comes with the inclusion of 11 tracks (two alternates) from McGhee's final date for the label, held in New York and featuring James Moody on tenor sax, Milt Jackson on vibes, Ray ...

| | Oliver Lake Movement, Turns & Switches CD (1996)
Superheroes album
$13.85 This is a consistently fascinating set by altoist Oliver Lake's String Project. Best known for his exploratory flights, Lake is an underrated arranger/composer. For the unusual but consistently fascinating effort, he utilizes a string quartet (violinist Ashley Horne and Sandra Billingslea, Ashley Horne on viola, and cellist Eileen Folson) for five of his six originals, occasionally adding bassist Belden Bullock and (on one song apiece) trumpeter Kenyatta Beasley (during the well-titled "Fan Fare Bop") and Neil Clarke on conga. The music is adventurous but quite coherent, often rhythmic and melodic but very open to advanced ideas. These string players can definitely stretch out; improvised sections coincide closely with written passages, so it is sometimes difficult to know which are which. Lake keeps his solo statements concise, tempering his fire with the desire to blend in with the strings. For variety, the leader is absent on the title cut, a fairly outside duet by violinist Regina Carter and pianist Donal Fox. Overall, this is a CD that rewards repeated listenings and is one of the highlights of Oliver Lake's productive career. ~ Scott Yanow

| | Axel Rudi Pell Knights Live CDs (2002)
Superheroes CD music
$11.65 Why is it that when Axel Rudi Pell plays live, his act is more reminiscent of Ronnie James Dio with an amazing guitar player than it is the generic brand of heavy metal he is usually associated with? Knights Live, despite it's sometimes ridiculous stage banter -- that recalls the excesses of Ted Nugent's vocalist Derek St. Holmes in the 1970s -- offers a completely ...

| | Pet Shop Boys Disco 4 CD (2007) (Import) Uk; United Kingdom
Superheroes album
$7.49 When remixing, the Pet Shop Boys make any artist sound a lot like the Pet Shop Boys, which is probably why they get the job in the first place. The fourth volume of their sporadic Disco compilation series breaks from the usual plan -- outside artists remixing Pet Shop Boys songs -- and focuses on PSB as remixers. Here they turn the Killers' "Read My Mind" into a dance anthem and Yoko Ono's "Walking on Thin Ice" into a Euro-trash track that would mix well with any given Fischerspooner song, while Madonna's "Sorry" turns into something that could have fallen off PSB's 1987 album, Actually. The only big surprise is how often singer ...
