| | Tony Yayo Thoughts Of A Predicate Felon CD Tony Yayo Discography of CDs
On 50 Cent posse G Unit's platinum first release, 2004's BEG FOR MERCY, Tony Yayo appears as a ghost, pictured in the flap but unable to rap on the record due to his incarceration on a weapons charge. When Yayo was freed from prison he cut his debut solo record, THOUGHTS OF A PREDICATE FELON. It bears the mark of a man releasing a lifetime of pent-up rhymes in a torrent, yet he delivers his raps with the kind of deliberation that helped made Biggie Smalls a household name.
The album opens on a note befitting its title, as Yayo spins a grim tale of vengeance on "Homicide," followed by glimpses of violent autobiography on "It Is What It Is" and a scathing indictment of snitches on "Tattle Teller." Despite his harsh presence, Yayo excels on tracks of love and desire, as on the soulful slow jam, "Curious," and the brash club crawler, "So Seductive." However, these respites from the dark are rare, as Yayo and the ever-ready Eminem make plain on "Drama Setter," where Yayo's disturbingly focused lyrics are consummate tension builders. THOUGHTS OF A PREDICATE FELON has the feel of a horror movie, but the kind where the terrors are the products of a tortured mind.
CD contains 1 bonus track.
Additional TracksRolling Stone (No. 984, p.152) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...Like every G Unit release, FELON wraps its gun violence and over-the-top boasts in opulent, catchy streetscapes..." Vibe (pp.143-144) - 3.5 discs out of 5 - "[T]hough Yayo holds his own playing the role of the uberthug dominating the club, it's his incarcerated Scarface mind-set that makes the strongest impression." Thoughts Of A Predicate Felon
$8.78 Melanie Fiona's debut single, "Give It to Me Right," was a perfect 2009 pop-R&B recording. The single coupled a timeless classic (the Zombies' "Time of the Season") with roof-raising vocals and infectious pop hooks that stuck like peanut butter. Fiona's single was perfect, albeit a touch formulaic. Because of this, it's no surprise that a large chunk of her debut album, THE BRIDGE, is much of the same. Like any good 2009 pop-soul recording, the album offers influences from decades of soul music. Fiona, a Kanye West protégé, collaborates with about as many styles of music as she has producers and writers, who include most prominently Canadian R&B singer-songwriter ...
| | Michael Jackson Thriller CD (1982) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Special Edition
Thoughts Of A Predicate Felon
$3.99 The finest example of perfect disco pop, and a record that should be prescribed to musical snobs and manic depressives. The album is a true ambassador of what pop music can be. Jackson whoops and dances through a suite of unforgettable melodies that should be danced to with a smile on your face. Each track offers at least one musical hook, whether it is the beauty of 'Human Nature' ...
| | 50 Cent Before I Self-Destruct CDs (2007) With DVD
Thoughts Of A Predicate Felon
$11.19 Released without the usual flurry of hype, Before I Self Destruct fulfills 50 Cent's contractual obligation to the Interscope label. It also doubles as a throwback album, returning the rapper to the hunger and hatred of his early mixtapes while skillfully recasting him as a wannabe upstart. That is, for the most part. The four radio-friendly bedroom numbers that conclude the album are out of place but fairly good to dime-piece beautiful, with the best being the Ne-Yo showcase "Baby by Me" ("Have a baby by me, baby/Be a millionaire"). As pleasing as these final numbers are, if you leave the room after the macho bruiser "I Got Swag" ("I'm infinitely special/Girl the Lord is gonna bless you/If you do what I tell you to do"), you'll return to a confusingly different album, one that's as glamorous but less vital. The monstrous run of tracks that leads up to this flash and polish can be summed up by 50's "This ain't Tha Carter/It's Sparta!," a witty, deceptive, and brutish line barked over a prime Dr. Dre beat during the great "Death to My Enemies." On the cut, the producer sounds like he's been digging on RZA, but the tension and dark-night feel he has created for "Psycho" is easily identifiable as Dre. Add an especially rapid 50 trading horror-show rhymes with Eminem and the G-Unit soldiers will testify that the Shady/Aftermath dream is still alive. While "So Disrespectful" is the perfect title ...

| | Michael Jackson Invincible CD (2001)
Thoughts Of A Predicate Felon
$7.59 "You Rock My World" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
The question for a 42-year-old Michael Jackson heading towards the end of 2001 was whether or not the self-proclaimed King Of Pop could make his presence known on the charts after having spent much of the '90s laying low. If the chart-topping position achieved by INVINCIBLE is any indication, then the answer is a resounding yes. The album is primarily produced by Jersey wunderkind Rodney Jerkins, and Jacko wasted no time tapping other top-flight ...

$18.59 Dutch musician Rutger Zuydervelt works on music under the Machinefabriek moniker, an evocative name suited to his often detailed blends of found sound, industrial-derived sonic textures and general mood-setting work. Having released many mini-CDs on his own, Weleer finds him drawing together tracks from a number of these releases to create a lengthy and quite cohesive overview of his approach. In its own way, this is his Louder Than Bombs, a compilation that serves to deftly illustrate his abilities ...
