This DVD performance of Ian Hunter and his Rant Band at the Astoria in London was filmed in 2004, a year of heavy touring for the band. Guitarist Andy York and drummer Steve Holley are on board as well as Ian Gibbons on keyboards and Gus Goad on bass with special guest Mick Ralphs back on stage with Ian. Ian Hunter, the golden-locked, charismatic lead singer of Mott the Hoople, continues to rock, unruffled by his 60-plus years and backed by his outstanding group, the American Rant Band. Filmed in 2004 at London's Astoria, the show marked a relatively rare return to Hunter's native U.K., and his energy is especially infectious. The show features special guest and former Mott member Mick Ralphs, along with guitarist Andy York, drummer Steve Holley, keyboardist Ian Gibbons, and bassist Gus Goad. The group plays many of Hunter's seminal songs, which influenced artists such as the Clash and Kiss. The set list includes "Once Bitten Twice Shy" and the David Bowie song "All the Young Dudes." Ian Hunter And The Rant Band - Just Another Night: Live In Astoria Movie Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars)   Very good show - could have been excellent
I was eagerly looking forward to this video, being a long-time Mott the Hoople and Ian Hunter fan. With Mick Ralphs joining Ian on stage, I thought the show would be electrifying. While the sound is terrific and the tunes are pretty much what any fan would love to hear live, not much of Mick close up was to be seen on the DVD. Even when he was playing some of the lead parts, the camera focused primarily on Andy York, with a couple of exceptions. Steve Holley is in top form behind the drums, and the rest of the band's playing is superb. Ian's voice is strong, and the crowd is enthusiastic. I rated this DVD 4 stars instead of 5, simply because Mick wasn't given more face time on camera.

Very different from "Strings", and yet equally important to the die hard fan. To see him rocking on stage, his enthusiasm equal for the old as well as the new. Ian Hunter never disappoints. Sit back and open your heart and mind to this incredible talent.
