| | H I M Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 CD H I M Discography of CDs
(5 Customer Reviews)
This release contains 58 untitled hidden tracks following "(Don't Fear) The Reaper".
Finally released in the U.S. mere weeks before HIM's 2005 album, DARK LIGHT, the Finnish group's debut, GREATEST LOVESONGS VOL. 666, unveils its signature "love metal" sound to stunning effect. A potent combination of Sisters of Mercy-inspired goth and blistering hard rock mixed with a glam look and overtly romantic lyrics, HIM's aesthetic is fully formed here. Frontman Ville Valo's deep croon and charismatic presence are showcased throughout the album, particularly on the fierce tracks "Your Sweet Six Six Six," "Our Diabolikal Rapture," and "The Heartless," a more melodic foray for the band. Bolstered by two excellent metallic covers (Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" and Blue Oyster Cult's "[Don't Fear] the Reaper"), 666 reveals why HIM has garnered such a devoted international following.
H.I.M. (Goth Rock): Ville Valo (vocals); Linde (guitar); Burton (keyboards); Mige (bass instrument); Gas (drums). Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 Music Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) their first and the best album... if you are not HIM's fan, you probably have heared only "Join Me In Death" or "The Funeral Of Hearts" or any other pop-rock song, but wait with conclusions, it's not what HIM in truth are.Their first and the best album "Greatest Lovesongs Vol.666" is full of darkness and real, not comercialy spoiled feelings. It's one of those albums that REALY worth not only listening, but buying. It's realy gothic, deep. There was something special in this band, something they have lost now.Everything, beginning with the cover and ending with the hidden track(66th one, because the others were made in order total lenth of the album to be 66hours 06minutes) and ending with female vocal on "(don't fear)The Raeper" and "For You" is perfect.Long touching ballad "When Love And Death Embrańe" which consists of 7 lines only makes you shake.Very personal.
About all the rest make conclusions yourself, but if you realy have taste you will value this work and give it 5 out of 5.
P.S.about hidden tracks. If they annoy you, just turn on the last one and listen. There's nothing on the others at all.As I said they have the other purpose. Submitted by anya_ua (Ukraine) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Dark and Heavy, Sad and Lovely This album is one of HIM's best, both lyrically and musically. It's distorted guitars always fit right in with the music, producing music that is very nice to listen to. Ville Valo's (the singer) vocals are amazing! He has a deep, haunting voice that perfectly complements the dark music. Some great songs are:
3. The Heartless: Soft, upbeat, and melodic, this one is probably the most easy-litening.
5. It's All Tears (Drown In This Love):
Probably their darkest song out of every album, Ville's voice goes from very deep to a high, desperate cry. The music leads perfectly from the verse to the chorus.
6. When Love and Death Embrace: Loud and Metally, but yet calm, not many bands can do that. Ville's voice range really stands out near the end of this track.
One of the coolest things about this CD is the Creepy, recurring theme of 666. It's everywhere!!! The CD is 66:06 minutes long, there's 66 tracks, Vol.666, Your Sweet Six Six Six, it's crazy! The 66 tracks were just used to keep the theme, though, as there is no music on any of the bonus tracks but the end of track 66. It's the music from the end of "The Heartless" from the EP 666 Ways to Love, an extremely rare and valuable CD. All in All, this Cd is wonderful to listen to. A definite 5 out of 5. By far, in my opinion, their best album yet. Granted, the dead air "hidden tracks" are quite annoying, but the annoyance is blown away by the awesomeness of the songs. I honestly can't pick a favorite. Add this to the list of many reasons why I adore HIM and their greatness. Submitted by Samie (Seattle, WA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Hidden tracks my hidden keister! 58 "hidden" tracks?
How about 57.5 tracks of nothing but out-in-the-open silence followed by a short musical outro in the 66th track?!
While this album ain't bad in the least, don't be suckered into it thinking you're getting a 66-track release... Submitted by GVermin (Horrorwood, Babylon) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
